A MacRumors forum poster made this mockup of the new iPhone with the black bezel.  We like!

It doesn't seem much like an Apple product.. and I don't like it very much.. it seems more like a modification of an iphone or like a beautiful iphone case!!!

If that bezel is real, which I'm gonna go with it is, do you think Apple is really going to design a product with that HUGE BLANK SPACE AT THE TOP? There's no way. There's a reason for that area. I'm gonna go with camera.

Lol you're right. I guess I meant that they aren't going to redsign it with a big space at the top unless theres a purpose.

i dont like the join near the bottom but the colour and integration of the speaker in to the join looks great

I hate the speaker at the top. If the next iPhone has that there, I won't be upgrading...

I like it. Just wondering - why so much wasted space above the display? You could either add something there, like a front-facing camera, or make the screen bigger (16:9?) which I doubt is very likely since there's no hints at all that the resolution has changed, or they could just make the whole device a little smaller, which I think is also unlikely because they had to pack all parts even closer, slim the battery etc.

I am suprised noone has commented on the green light where the earpiece speaker use to be. Looks very similar to the existing imac and macbooks from facing camera. I know this is a artist rendition but it makes since with the new position of the speaker.

The new iPhone isn't going to be as revolutionary as people think. It's gonna be a huge disappointment. The unwashed masses are working themselves into a lather for nothing. It's sad to see people get pissed because the real thing doesn't live up to unannounced rumors.

I was just wondering if apple will maybe put a bigger screen in it. I mean it might not be in the current OS 3 seeds only because there will be two different versions of the OS for the Gen 1 & 2 iPhones and the G3 iPhone. I mean most of the differences in the OS that have been found are things that can be handled in the old hardware (from what I can remember) such as video recording and others. But the enhanced screen and resolution won't be put in there because the OS beta you are working on is for phones that can't handle it. The same would go if they put a second camera in the space where the speaker used to be. it wouldn't have the OS ask you what camera to use (front facing or back facing) in the old iPhones that don't have two cameras, apple is a little better about things like that then most companies i've heard of. Although the OS 3 upgade is going to be good for all iPhone owners, I'm looking forward to the iPhone G3 and seeing if there will be 2 versions of the OS (much like safari for OS10.4 and 10.5) where the new new hardware has even more to be accessed by the OS then what we've seen in the Beta.

I like the mock up but I don't think that is something Apple would go for. I think the new iPhone will be much smaller and tighter with less wasted space, just a screen and a home button!
