I think you guys are missing the point. They made the phone that we all wanted. It just has a very sluggish interface. It is fat but Apple had to toss out a lot of functionality to make the iPhone skinny. Now we see what it would have looked like if we all got our wishes :-)

for a knock off I think its pretty impressive. I still prefer my iPhone becuase it works better. This guy looked like he was constantly fighting the interface.

But it had dual SIM cards and a micro SD slot plus a removable battery. I bet it was 3G but couldn't tell if it had a GPS unless I missed that in the demonstration?

I have just one request for 9to5. Is it possible to add the actual hyperlink to the YouTube videos as well as the embedded video? I can't view the videos on my iPhone when you just embed the video so I miss a lot until I log in a my desktop. when there is a link to click usually the YouTube player will launch so I can watch the video.

Cheap Chinese Shit Makes Me Sick.  How are companies and people supposed to compete with junk from country where it's legal to make blatant knock offs like this?  China is the new wild west, where anything goes and there are no patents, laws, or standards. iPhone with tacky Apple knockoff software?  YES PLEASE! Something needs to be done.   

Hilarious! Apart from not being able to see what the hell he's doing, what's with the pink furry slippers and sounds of breakfast in the background?

Hasn't anyone read PopSci lately? This is old-ish news. The point is that Apple could have done everything we wanted to the iPhone but didn't, so the Chinese copied what they were able to and fixed the major complaints.  The difference? It runs directly on Linux. That means open apps, and chances are the whole interface will get better in time.

As for cracking down on knock-offs in China is no easy task. They managed to take down one guy who was responsible for a huge knock-off elecronics ring, but they mainly don't have the infrastructure in place to investigate every little thing, especially since they let it get so out of hand before acting. As for the Chinese people themselves, they care more about looking like they have the real thing than actually having the real thing. LG Chocolate was the hot phone in Asia when we were still waiting for the iPhone. China was last to get the real one, but the market was flooded with knockoffs already. They didn't work as well, but they didn't care.

Actually this looks really good, next time I'm in China I'll try and buy one. Certainly better and cheaper than nothing when Apple won't sell us the real thing, and it certainly has the extra features a lot of us in Asia need. I don't think the rest of you can appreciate the completely different social and economic situation outside of your own social bubbles. Compared with the knock off's that came out 8 months ago, this is looking damn good.
