This one belongs in the "what will they think of next category". Some enterprising programmers managed to make a heart monitor out of the microphone in the iPhone headset.
While this is a cool idea and fun for most, we wouldn't recommend it just yet for those with heart conditions.
Not perfect perhaps in terms of ease of use or even calibration/accuracy but a very good example of the sheer diversity of the places the iPhone/Touch can take you.
What's next - an alpha wave monitor for meditators? A full health scanner for pulse, blood pressure and respiration pattern? A Star Trek style life signs signal strength monitor? A portable oscilloscope?
Hold on to your AAPL shares or buy in now. The journey has only just begun really.

I'd rather get A heart rate monitor able to wirelessly link to an iPhone, to do sporting applications
