iFart app making almost $10,000/day
iFart has hit the top paid app spot and has recieved over 13,000 purchases on Dec. 22nd. according to MR. That means $9200 went directly into developer Joel Comm's pocket.
Joel's climb up the "ranks"
12/14 - 841 units - #76 overall
12/15 - 1510 units - #39 overall
12/16 - 1797 units - #22 overall
12/17 - 2836 units - #15 overall
12/18 - 3086 units - #10 overall
12/19 - 3117 units - #9 overall
12/20 - 5497 units, - #4 overall
12/21 - 9760 units -#? overall
12/22 - 13274 units, #1 overall
Interesting. These facts bring in a wealth of reactions. Good for independent app developers. Green with envy for a dumb app. Also, the number two app Sim City costs ten times as much. That means it has approached $100,000/day in income. Oh, and Apple is taking in a few bucks as well. The App store is certainly the technology breakthrough of the year. Thoughts?

I won't be buying it, since I can fart for free without even using my phone. :)
How sick is the world we're living in?
I think this is awesome, when someone can be that successful. I hope I can do the same one day. God bless him and viva Capitalism!
Makes you want to cry.
I'd like to have a drink with this guy.
"Wow, man. How'd you make your money?"
"Umm... Urgh..."
Maybe Schiller will Demo it at Macworld.
Pathetic. People actually pay for this crap? Especially in these bad economic days.
Bloody sad really.
Don't hate...celebrate!
I think you'll find you've made the common mistake of confusing revenue with profit. The sim city developers are taking in $100k in revenue on a good day, if your calculations are correct: NOT 100k in profits. I know, you're talking about the money flowing to the developer after apple takes its share from app store purchases. But that's not profit: the company has overhead, the cost of developing the application, etc. There could be a big, big difference in its actual profit and what you're reporting.
Does that diminish the dramatic profitability of some iPhone apps, or the weirdness of a farting app bringing in $10k in revenue in a single day? Not at all. But if we're writing about business, let's use the biz terms properly.
BUUUURPPP!!!
This only goes to show nobody ever starved by underestimating the intelligence of the Great Purchasing Public. Is there any way of making the iPhone/iTouches of the buyers of this app change colour? It would be a useful tool for determining social compatibility and IQ...
UPDATE iFart is making $27,249 a day!
