Looks like Apple is making an attempt to squash some of those bugs that have plagued a few of y'all out there.  The 250mb update has no specific clues on exact fixes but is intended as a "bug fixes" release only.

No word yet if this release will have any affect on the fledgling Jailbreak 2.0s out there.

How did the updates go for you?  Does your iPhone sync still take 10 minutes?

Update: Yeah the backup part of the synch seems to be marginally quicker.  IT makes it to 50% in a few seconds then slows.  Also, apps feel slightly snappier but that isn't verified..

Well....stillllllll loading......
Have had an iPhone since Day 1 over a year ago and now have a white 3g.
It would hesitate on scrolling through contacts, ipod just start-up after hanging up a call and sometimes would not start when I hit the home button.....sad to say this was a case where 2.0 was less than 1.0.......hopefully the update will fix this and more......

Still lags

Still, when I play Texas Hold'em for example, its impossible to write SMS for afterwards ... So no fix for that problem.

LOL. 10 minutes? my 16GB 3G

LOL. 10 minutes? my 16GB 3G iPhone is filled to capacity and backup only takes about 1-2 minutes each time. You using Windows or something?

i use a mac and mine takes about 10 minutes. i hate it

10mins?

I have a new imac and a 16GB black iPhone with about 850MB of free space and back up takes me less than 1 min. Dunno boot you fellas...

I noticed that the volume is

I noticed that the volume is a little lower in the headsets...I think. Also, my sync times haven't sped up. No crashes yet though

Not faster for me. I have a

Not faster for me. I have a 16GB with all but about 600MB used, and backups are still taking upwards of 20 minutes.

Wow. My post right above. 20

Wow. My post right above. 20 minutes was way optimistic. I still have a chunk of "Backing up iPhone" to go (15%, I wanna say), and I've been looking at it for exact 35 minutes right now. This is incredibly annoying.

You can speed up the backup

711

You can speed up the backup time by hooking it directly to the computers usb port and not on a dock or hub. That keeps the connections at Usb 2.0 verses Usb 1.1. That will speed it up significantly. You can also disable the automatic sync and backup with super docker.

iPhone 2.0

Yeah, my backup's are so long too. Before 2.0 when i was using 1.1.4 they were as fast as a thunder. But with 2.0 i'm wating and waiting.

I can't update my iPhone right now because i have no idea that i will be able to unlock it with pwnage tool or not. When i will update it i will inform you guys.

Also does your iPhone ever restarted itself after launching an app. that's downloaded from App Store?

2.0 unlocked with PwnageTool 2.01 : you can upgrade to 2.01

711

No problem to UPGRADE (using iTunes) your 2.0 iPhone 2G (1st generation) which was previously jailbroken and unlocked using PwnageTool 2.01 : the unlock remains in place, you will loose the jailbrake and thus Cydia (if you RESTORE in iTunes using this 2.01 IPSW file, you might re-flash the unlocked baseband so it will be locked again ...)

but the improvements of 2.01 over 2.0 are so huge and important (speed, speed, speed ... switching screen,s SMS-app, search, backup...) that it is worth to upgrade and loose those extra features of a jailbroken iPhone ...

it deletes cydia and all

611

it deletes cydia and all applications associated with it (on my ipod touch), but the whole OS is so much snappier that it's worth it. I was going to congratulate apple but then I realized that this was how it should have been from the BEGINNING.

You're kidding me. 10 minutes

97

You're kidding me. 10 minutes - ha, ha. The backup of my iPod touch takes about 45 minutes at least. I think the problem are the apps. I have about 60 of them installed and the device gets slower and less stable the more apps you install. So I will kill a lot of them and only keep the really necessary ones.

I gladly confirm that the

I gladly confirm that the update via iTunes works fine on Pwned 2G iPhones. I didn't think I'd ever live to see this :)

My 3G iPhone had problems with the update not completing. iTunes said to restore the phone next. This was unsuccessful several times. It took an hour to reach an Apple tech by phone. He could not fix it either. He thought the firmware might be "stuck" and unable to communicate. He got me an appointment at an Apple store 3 hrs from here for tomorrow. Hopefully, they will fix it. The phone is now an iBrick.
The tech had not seen this problem before.
