iPad pre-orders sell out in Norway, report explains

Expect the iPad to sell out on launch - at least in some territories, early market signs suggest.

Apple’s iPad is already a big success in Norway, where local retailers, Eplehuset and Humac have had to close their pre-order books in face of stiff demand - they say they’ve already sold out of any expected initial stocks.

Suggestion is the 64GB iPad with 3G could be the most popular model, but it is worth carrying some caveats to these reports:

1/ Apple isn’t offering pre-orders yet - so any pre-orders that are available reflect retailer’s own initiatives.
2/ We have no idea yet just how much stock will hit sales channels - will a pre-order turn into an order or not? Only Apple knows this.
3/ We still have no idea how much the product will cost.

Still, it’s a promising sign.

As I live in Norway I would like to add my two cents...
As mentioned in this article, they are only resellers. The always create waiting lists BUT they usually get stocks WAY after the release. I have done the tests with a few products (AppleTV, magic mouse, new remote...) and what happens is that when the product is released, you're better off ordering from the official Apple Online Store as those resellers won't get the goods until at least a good month after that. What concretely happens is that at best they received only a handful of units, after that it takes them quite a good while before they get any proper stock.

Note also that it is very norwegian to train to gain publicity in such a way. For instance Netcom (mobile operator, TeliaSonera group) has a page to mail your interest in the iPad, explaining that it's so great they wish they could offer it... yep, you read that right : the deals are not made yet, and for all we know netcom might not get it at all (although that would be unlikely).

Agree:) but the price in Norway on apple products is usualy 40-44 prosent more then in the USA, DESSVERRE(norwegian)
