Colbert shows off his iPad at the Grammys (Video)
Those product placement gurus at Apple have snuck the iPad into the 52nd Annual Grammy Award ceremony. Stephen Colbert pulled it out to find his list of nominess. We've found a couple of videos of the encounter which we've posted below...

I've switched from macrumors to 9to5mac, this place is WAY faster at updating!
i'm only going to macrumors now to see more comments.
and lol @ shameless plug.
Same here I switch from Macrumors to 9to5mac.
Go easy on MacRumors! That's our second favorite Mac site!
-Seth and the admins :P
Yeah! Arn is awesome! Do you guys know Arn?
Saw the girl?
That will happen to you if you don't give one to your spouse/girlfriend!
Daughter?!
Why did she seem upset?
Because her dad was trying to be hip in public. Most kids cringe at that.
No it just was a show.
haha i think this product has gotten a bad rap from the techies. my friend works in apple retail and i asked him what he thought about the product and he said most people coming in are excited about it, they don't care about flash, and they are happy it isn't something they have to learn how to use. I think people got carried away by the rumors and aren't willing to accept this device as what it's meant to be, a big ipod touch.
I used to go to MacDaily News but it seems like they don't work on the weekends...lol
Eventhough I read all of the Apple blogs, 9to5 is my first and most-visited site for Apple news.
Great job 9to5!!
macdailynews is run by rednecks... stay away!
What is so bad about red necks?
red necks
I got to MacRumors and then 9to5Mac, though I like 9to5Mac better because it is somewhat less formal to read (with the exception of of the criticism of AT&T that is just annoying. I love to read the comment on MacRumors. WIll Colbert get to keep that iPad?
Nice... You guys are quick! I was laughing at the iPad splash.
9 to 5 MAC IS BEST! I like Macrumors as well, but I 9to5 was made #1 long ago. Appleinsider is good as well.
I used to like Appleinsider but not too much any more. They are way to uptight and are very slow to get to news.
Yeah, I used to like AppleInsider as well along with macrumors. Both of those sites are just so slow at updating news. I like how 9to5Mac is really quick with their updates. I also like the new site design, it's much easier on the eyes.
appleinsider is great when daniel eran dilger writes for them, his posts are always so thorough and intense, there is noone who goes as in depth as he does, and he prevails even though google tried to kill him ;)
9to5Mac is really quick and I like the site design, spare the removal of thumbs and the news feed.
Fast post 9to5
same here guys I switched from Macrumors to here, this website deserves to be more popular its just better, the community over there is horrible(my opinion).
Since this is about why we love 9TO5 MAC - I just want to say - I miss the Coffee Mug. Please bring it back. It is my favourite work pass time and 9TO5 reminded me of that escape. :D The new site is better indeed, but can't you integrate the Coffee Mug somehow?
It's "sneaked" not "snuck".
I don't think that was a product placement. I see it more as Colbert trying to associate himself with something in the news which is his shtick.
If they would just change the name to iPod Touch XL or similar all the criticism would go away. The backlash was because it was hyped as something revolutionary which even if you want one, it just isn't.
Anyway I like 9 to 5 mac because
1) they let you post anonymously which I like not for flaming people but just because I'm sick of trying to think up usernames. :)
2) they can tell the difference between healthy criticism of apple and real trolling and don't delete stuff (near as I can tell) just because it takes a different pov.
3) it's a nice looking site and frequently updated.
Way to go, 9to5Mac! But @dan, I'd like to add a little spin to what you said:
..." I think people got carried away by the rumors and aren't willing to accept this device as what it's meant to be, a big ipod touch."
Actually, the iPod touch and iPhone are shrunken versions of the iPad, but that semantic difference will be lost on almost all iPad buyers. Fine. The world of computing will change forever. This year.
Apple has been working on the iPad since before iPhone and iPod touch. They figured releasing a phone first would be better. They were right.
know what i hate? thread highjacking LOL
so back to topic: where did he pull that thing out off? apple must have paid colbert to do that, don't you guys think?
and because everybody is going off topic... wow that blond was hot! (i love how she shook her head)
hm, i think i'll point something out here first: why does all the world rattle on about the iphones and ipads not supportin' flash? and why do the people that do so, indeed, use html5-videostreaming instead of flash on their websites? I realize that all the time here on 9to5mac, when my beloved Firefox (on a mac) refuses to show youtube-videos because they are set to flash. If you guys love flash so much, why don't you use it? and if you love html5-streaming that much, why don't you shut *piep* *piep* up and stop whining about flash? sorry, but i don't get that.
