Gizmodo's hands on: the 27-inch iMac is a beast.
With a screen resolution close to that of a WQXGA 30-inch screen, this 27-inch iMac will likely satisfy those who were calling out for a 30-inch iMac. In fact, with the Quad-Core i7, 16GB RAM and insane screen, this thing meanders pretty seriously into workstation-land. Check Gizmodo's Magic Mouse, iMac and 13-inch MacBook unboxing/hands-on.

Scary photo! Looks like it's about to become a "Mac home delivery fail" video on Break.com
What a Luck Guy!!! Enjoy it!!
P.S.: Nice car!!!
what's that car? the new infiniti?
insignia maybe?
an Audi A4 I think
definitely an Audi
looks rather like an A6
It's an Audi A4 latest model, but i prefer the BMW X5 E70 that is next to it, BMW to Audi/VW is like Apple to Microsoft, less market share, better quality :=)
Most important feature - it has a video input!
Weintraub,
Could you please send me your comments about the input video capabilities. Also, in my opinion the 720i/p and even 1080i/p TV Show might be very "distorted" at the 2560 by 1440 resolution display. Isn´t it missing a nice Blu-ray disk after all? How would it looks like with the external third-part Blu-ray device? Isn´t this resolution display way out of standard?
Thanks a lot

I am very pleased with the iMac updates. I am glad they have the i7 high end. I was worried they would stick to dual-core. Also, the new remote looks great. Has any one had a chance to try it? The old remote was sad. I guess the only thing that is disappointing would be the missing Blu-ray option. I figure they are trying to force everyone to use itunes to download media over the Internet. However, believe it or not, some people have no or very limited connectivity. Oh well, maybe next year.
I am looking at the website right now and it says the new imacs have an i5 processor, which is not as high end as the i7. The i7 has hyperthreading, which means it has 8 cores, whereas the i5 is a quad core but because of the new architecture is faster than other quad cores. Anyway, it's not as good as the i7, but it's still pretty amazing.
The i7 is available as a build to order option
actually there is the i7 it's an upgrade you can add on to the i5 once you click on buy now for $200 us extra
It's interesting, with the inclusion of a video input, improvement in audio and the ability to hang the screen on the wall I see apple deliberately moving towards their unit being a central HDTV in a home... really, aside from this imac being larger it's there. But, I think it's interesting stragegy that rather than just going straight there and making and imac with a 50 inch screen they're slowing going there... changing the aspect ratio, getting you used to the idea that you can plug other inputs in. Maybe I am wrong, but, I think I can see where they're going.
I am waiting until november to pick up the quad core, however the feature that I am looking for is a TV tuner. I am buying to replace a windows media center PC that is aging. That would be an awesome feature, and I agree, I see Apple transitioning more toward the media center as well. I never really understood Apple TV, but hopefully they can draw everything in by adding a new set of features and synergies in the next refresh. Time will tell.
Dave
