Amid rumors of a halt in production of the 27-inch iMac and 3+ week delays in shipping since before Christmas, Apple today released its second firmware update for the 27-inch iMac.

Dare we ask if this update has helped those out there?

I didn't have any troubles with mine before, but I installed anyway.
At least it didn't break anything. :)

So far the way i was able to reproduce the flickering it is fixed, but let's wait for a long term test.

How were you able to reproduce the flickering? For me (and from everything I've read online) it's always been completely random.

Apple finally ships the magic pixie dust, hooray!

Display flicker is the only issue with the 27" model? Quad or dual or both?

It doesn't matter. The magic pixie dust will fix it.

Actually, pixie dust cures the flickering, fairy dust solves the yellowing screens, eye of newt prevents washed out colors, and dragon droppings restored default conditions. It all in the manual.

It's the eye of spotted for the Core 2 Duo machines and eye of the giant variegated new for the Core i7 models. You could use the eye of spotted newt for the Core i7 models but you would have to reset PRAM and dance a jig under the full moon wearing a pink tutu. Of course, the eye of the giant variegated newt could be used for Core 2 Duo machines but Apple insists this would violate the warranty. Apparently, on Core 2 Duo machines the eye of the giant variegate new corrupts the fan drivers. Hope this helps.

this is getting complicated...

Defiler? But I barely know her.....

There is a much more simple fix for the yellow screen. Insert a taco size corn tortilla in the cd/dvd slot and reboot.

Tech Note: make sure it's white corn and not yellow corn or the problem will get worse.

Does it help the other problem at all? You know, the yellow-ish tint that exists under "specific combination of light", or whatever the statement said? I really want to get this gorgeous screen. :)

US applestore now says 2 weeks shipping instead of yesterdays 3 weeks. Here in Sweden it still says 3 weeks, though.

now fix the yellow issue! ......

and BRING IPS to MacBook Pro's PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

I think we can expect this the next major update, even the iPad has IPS.

did anyones update take forever? mine has been at the same screen with a spinning gear for over 20 minutes

I installed the update even though I did not have any problems since I bought my iMac last november. Now after the update my screen flickers. Good job Apple!?!
