Cupertino called in a lifeline today to tell us that iLife GM'd (Golden Master) yesterday and was sent to the DVD printers and should start shipping en mass on Monday. Faces and Places are very close to being on your computer.
Don't have a Camera with GPS capabilities (and not pleased with the 2 megapixel iPhone snappers)? Nikon's Coolpix P6000 13.5MP Digital Camera is the camera that Apple showed off during the iPhoto demonstration.
Update: Apple says ships "in January"

geotagging
anyone know of a point and shoot gps capable geotagging camera to take advantage of places in iPhoto 09?
They seemed to be endorsing
They seemed to be endorsing the Nikon one at Macworld (oh, and the iPhone)
Well, if you don't want to
Well, if you don't want to buy a new camera, the nice thing is that it seems like adding geo info to existing and non-tagged photos will be really easy in iPhoto. Click the "i", choose the add geo tag thingy, and point to it on a map. If you have an event or album or other group of pics all taken in roughly the same area, like in and around the cottage, you can set a wider area, as if to say "all these pics were taken within this circle"
If that's not good enough, get a GPS tracker that logs your positions, then use third party software to match your GPS log with pictures based on the time stamp.
So I'm not rushing out to buy a new camera just for geotagging, I'll see how well the built in feature works, and maybe the tracker, because I just bought a new dSLR after xmas, and I won't be able to convince my wife to upgrade for at least a year or two.
I saw this posted last year,
I saw this posted last year, but haven't heard anything about it since: http://blogs.computerworld.com/first_ever_gps_digital_camera_coming_in_june
I would love to see a small point and shoot like this maybe in the Canon lineup.
If they want to make a useful
If they want to make a useful box set, they could give bundle iLife, iWork and MobileMe.
Or just iLife and iWork.
I'd be all over the box set if I didn't already have Leopard. I don't need a spare leopard license... unless I'm planing to build a hackintosh.
That box will be useful as
That box will be useful as soon as Snow Leopard will be shipping. Maybe that is the way how Apple intends to make it cost only $10 as it is not expected to bring a lot of new front-end features. However until Snow Leopard ships some people will have bought iLife and/or iWork already.
Good point
You're right. I'll hold off on iLife and iWork, I guess!
Screw You Brady Bunch??
Huh? If you count the extra kid, Mike, Carol, Alice, and the dog thats 10. Exactly 2 family packs....No big, move along citizens, nothing to see here
But... but...
But.. but.. wait! Mike and Carol got married! They're one family now not two creepy intermingled families living in sin together with their dog and maid! (ok, it is still creepy, I'll give you that) Don't discriminate against the loving blended family! The dog and Alice, on the other hand, well they're not exactly part of the family so they'd better give the EULA a close read.
Most of my pictures are taken
Most of my pictures are taken indoors...GPS will be largely useless in that case, especially with the reportedly poor performance of GPS-enabled cameras.
Will snow leopard come with
Will snow leopard come with ilife 09?
Nope. New Macs ship with
Nope. New Macs ship with iLife, new copies of OSX do not

Its benefit you can work on documents to do online collaborating to get ideas going. It's really beneficial!

Amazon Shows Jan 20 Now!
Looks like Amazon has changed the availability to the 20th
Eye-fi
If your camera uses SD cards you could always get an Eye-fi Explore card, which includes geotagging. It's not really GPS but might work well enough.

I think there may be some
I think there may be some weight to this posting as I've made a reference to it in the apple discussion forums and it was whacked by their moderators. Which seems odd, but maybe they have a policy against posting rumors?
Amazon still shows Feb 20th
Amazon still shows Feb 20th on the links above, so I'm not sure where that jan 20 update comes from.
