defiantly photoshopped, the edges of the window are really blurry and it looks like they took the buttons for iTunes
What need is there...What possible use is there...for iChat on Windows?
To finally be able to video chat with pc users properly - it's the final argument for most of my wintel friends to not come over to the mac-side - they can't video chat on msn. I know there is aMSN and Mercury, but they're both slow, ugly and very flakey - this is a very important step in gaining the average home user.
The menu text is all wrong (i.e. wrong font, wrong point size etc).
'Window' and 'Help' are too close together
Title font is incorrect.
Top of the window (above the title text) has excessive photoshop blurring.
edt: why is there still a hash on your captcha when there isn't a hash key on the mac keyboards?
Wow, this makes my brain hurt. If iChat is really coming to Windows they should have at least have it run on Vista (I think that is XP). Then Apple could brag that they are the only ones who can make anything run on VISTA.
Just have a look at the icon file name on desktop. Do you think Apple would write it as "ichat"? Or "iChat"...
The picture is obviously fake. The fonts are WAY too inconsistent and the picture has blurred edges. Not to mention "ichat". If you compare the minimize/maximize/close buttons to those in Safari, it's off.
Looks like they put too much effort into this fake.
I'm not saying that Apple wont launch such a product, just that this screenshot is fake.
This is the absolute worst fake I have ever seen. The fonts are completely off, the spacing is atrocious, and the whole iChat window is blurry while the Windows desktop is nearly crystal clear.
Looks like DEVELOPMENT VERSION to me. Developers are known for not putting the install package (all proper capitalization etc.) together until it passes beta.
The presentation flaw is well convincing - the right mistake for this circumstance.
Slighty clever Photoshop? Not even a reasonably terrible one. This is brutal. And if you are blind and can't tell from the iChat application, refer to what one of the other commenters wrote: iChat not ichat. Apple would never make that mistake. Rookie error by the person who created this with Microsoft Paint.
It wouldn't have screen sharing.
I remember when Apple lawyers ordered 9to5mac to delete the spy pictures of the new iPod Nano. 9to5mac then said that they will upload the fan's artwork which will be close to the realiity.
There is absolutely no point in having iChat for Windows, unless it can connect to pretty much all of the IMs, not just AIM or Jabber.
you aren't thinking very hard. there are a lot of chat features-- video chat, fle sharing-- that just won't work over a shared protocol. it can be frustrating when your friend has a mac, and you don't. then you start to notice that ichat looks nicer, which gets you thinking about your next purchase. if they gave us windows itunes and safari for this same reason, why not ichat?
but i agree, how hard is it to fake a shot like that? you could make a perfect one with a simple cut and paste job on a mac running an emulator. no points for skill.
I'm not sure why people waste their time photoshopping a simple app like iChat into a Windows background. Anyone with a basic knowledge of photoshop can do this (and do it much much better). I'm going to "leak" shots of Garage Band and Final Cut running on Windows to some blogs and see how bananas people will go over that... Just sick of pointless posts of screenshot posts...
it's not a new idea, in any case.

I would believe you more if you said it was Coherence view for windows than iChat (or ichat) for windows... lol.
This was made with MS paint... it just looks very bad...
how bout making it compatible with MSN hmm Apple? If it is, then I would consider using iChat more... coz my friends all use MSN...
That would be the exact opposite of what they want. They want Windows users to use Apple software (iTunes and Safari are examples) so that they will consider a Mac as their next purchase.
i doubt that will ever happen
Wow, all the people befuddled by why Apple would port iChat to Windows...if the iPhone has video iChat...do you think they want to limit that to Mac users only?
If the iPhone has iChat-it would be stupid for Apple NOT to give Windows a version of iChat.
Maybe run windows through wmware or paralells, screenshot, wallpaper.. run ichat and make some names blurr ..photo little things. make screenshot again.. and this is what you get..
PC iChat would be necessary if 3G iphone had iChat videoconferencing...
Adium > I-chat > alternatives > MSN Messenger
I would love to get a prooper chat client for Windows.
"edt: why is there still a hash on your captcha when there isn't a hash key on the mac keyboards?"
Macs do have a hash key. You have to press Alt+3. ########
:)
Thats two keys :)
The green bullet and pulldown with "Available" is nearly equal to Adium.
