iChat, Videoconferencing for iPhone...Windows?!

Videoconferencing on iChat has never worked perfectly for us....especially over Jabber and to AOL users on Windows.  According to Crunchgear all that can now change.  They found a little blurb in some "leaked" photos (which frankly look about as real as any we've seen - but are probably not real):

Video just became a little more fun. Start a real time video chat with other AT&T subscribers via 3G networking, or with iChat buddies via WiFi. The video calling revolution has begun.

Now available on iPhone and - Windows!

Steve Jobs announced that AOL IM would be available in iPhone 2 at the SDK preview earlier this year.  Video on the iPhone and iChat on Windows however is a bit surprising.

The video capabilities coincide with earlier reports that the 3G iphone will indeed have video capture capability - which would be nice.

Seriously.  If real, this makes sense.  Go Apple!

looks oddly convincing...

yeah could be real, my first impression is I like the matte black and red. I also like the MBA-esque tapering. Looks slick, even for a bad photo.

Wow. These really do look

2828

Wow. These really do look authentic. The only problem I see is with the (PRODUCT)RED mark - it's completely off from how it's supposed to be shown. It isn't even colored red. Apple has never used a mark like that.

(Sorry for the two

(Sorry for the two comments.)

As for the colors. I initially didn't like the idea of the matte dark gray, and it doesn't look good in the picture. But when I think about holding the actual phone I think it would look stunning if the texture were slightly course.

The sleep/wake-button is

3631

The sleep/wake-button is missing on the red one!

I'm envious of Steve Jobs.

2928

I'm envious of Steve Jobs. How great would it be to be shuffling through all the rumor sites 4 days before he launches the real thing. I bet he's sitting back with a nice scotch and laughing his ass off!

Fake?

3127

Apart from the missing switch on the product (RED) it also has a couple of typos in the blurb ie. Windows Xp not XP & wifi not Wi-Fi

i really like the red!!! I'd

2527

i really like the red!!!

I'd buy the red, I've never had a red anything from apple. They shoul make a red iPod classic!

Go apple!

Maybe it's just the bad

2726

Maybe it's just the bad picture quality, but I think these iPhones really look quite awful.

iChat for Windows + me.com

2731

iChat for Windows and a new name for mac.com make sense : to have new ID for new iChat users, and ID not liked with Macs...

Rubber not Anodized Aluminum

3127

I think the texture isn't going to be metal. I anticipate a matte-rubber finish, that isn't as slick as a metal finish would be (i.e. iPhone 1.0).

I think it'll be like the windows mobile devices with a rubberized backing (i.e. HTC Dash/Wing/etc.)

This is an obvious fake.

2433

This is an obvious fake. There's no video camera on the front side and no dedicated GPS.

Have your eyes checked.

3724

Have your eyes checked.

I agree with them. My eyes

2826

I agree with them. My eyes work perfectly and the last time I saw the 3G iPhone it didn't have a camera on the front side.

Jabber ist the only solution

2333

I hope that Apple will use XMPP instead of Oscar. Jabber is better, offers more pisibillities, it is open and the only solution für the enterprise.
Apple should use the popularity of iphone and .mac/.me for ushing jabber aka xmpp.

FRONT CAMERA Are you blind ?

3223

FRONT CAMERA

Are you blind ? - you can clearly see a little square on the front right - side of ear-speaker.
zhats the front camera. If fake, at least he thought of this... ;o)

That's exactly why it's

3425

That's exactly why it's faked. The real 3G iPhone does not have a camera on the front side.

Fake. People should get

3129

Fake.

People should get ready for some major letdowns.

The feature sets on some of the rumor sites are totally unreal.

They're fake...

2731

These have already been determined as fake. First thing everyone notices is the lack of a hold button on the red iPhone...

And c'mon, seriously, do we all not notice that it's in Photoshop on the last picture?

There are legitimate reasons

3527

There are legitimate reasons that this would be created in Photoshop. Especially if it's a mockup.

Nope.

2734

Here's the story of the next iPhone:

1. "3G"
2. Updated software
3. Slightly modified case
4. Different pricing
5. That's it.

For some reason I want to

3026

For some reason I want to believe you. It just sounds right.

completely fake

2634

not only was the pic taken in photoshop, the time is not 9:42am. in every video demonstration/pic apple has on their site the time is 9:42. it's the default for their advertising. oh and the hold button. nice try though

lol, nice try :)

3231

lol, nice try :)

"Carlos Rodriguez" isn't

2728

"Carlos Rodriguez" isn't handsome enough to be in a real Apple commercial!

Two Cameras?

2724

Based on this, it seems there would have to be a camera on the front and the back of the iPhone. Can't very well snap a shot of something other than yourself if the cam is on the same face as the screen.

I doubt that is gonna happen. But I would love to be wrong.

FAKE!!

3227

Fake, the guy at the left (3rd image) looks too bad for a model (and the name too)... The red one doesn't have a power button.

"( RED )" is wrong.. It should be (PRODUCT) RED tm

The 2nd image has a guideline drawn at the top of the paragraph meaning it's Ps CS3

On the 3rd image, the top bar is Ps CS3... and I see 4 guidelines drawn in that image as well.

Here is the actual photostream:

If you look closely on this one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/27431673@N02/2556921417/

The time is 1:25 PM... meaning it's fake, since on every iPhone/iPod touch picture by Apple it's 9:42 AM.

The pictures are so fake that the rules of fakeness could not describe how fake they are. lol
