This just freakin' rocks. Yet another reason why the iPhone is going to take over the world. Cities will be built around it!
I don't even know if other phones can do this yet, but you can bet that if the iPhone can do this, others will be able to shortly.
iPhone may be first, but that doesn't mean it will be exclusive for long.
Minutes are cheap anyways, I have so many roll over minutes they're starting to expire. I'd gladly trade VOIP capability for an MMS method that works besides trying to explain to all my contacts that they can send MMS messages to my email address, and of course I'd really like to see Flash support over VOIP.
I've seen other phones do it - the high end Nokias have VOIP in the base firmware for example, and you can set some numbers to go over VOIP and some numbers to go over WIFI, or just choose when dialing.
The MMS thing is a pain but I hope that apple allow someone to write an app for the appstore soon (and MMS to email only works on some phones).
MMS is old and busted. Apple was smart not to implement it.
Way to Go mate....!
If you have excessive "roll over" minutes then you are simply wasting your money and paying AT&T for service you don't use. Lower your minutes and save your money.
I wonder if someone will make a kit to make this work with an iPod touch.
I am another person who has tons of expiring roll over minutes, and I have the cheapest AT&T plan...
I just don't spend all day long on the phone like the noob above does. Nights and weekends are fine for me...
A VOIP kit for an iPod touch? It could be like the Griffin microphone attachment, but also have a built in speaker. Or it could be a wired speaker/mike that you put in your ear.
