iTunes 9.0.3 is out and at almost 100MB looks to be a pretty significant upgrade.  Read below for details.

iTunes 9.0.3 provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

• iTunes no longer ignores your "Remember password for purchases" setting.
• Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod.
• Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected.
• Addresses issues that affect stability and performance.

iTunes 9 comes with many new features and improvements, including:

• An improved look and feel, including a new Column Browser for easily browsing your artists or albums, movies, TV shows, and more.

• iTunes Store has a brand new look, with improved navigation for quick and easy exploration.

• iTunes LP and iTunes Extras create unique experiences that feature exclusive interviews, videos, photos, and more — available with select album and movie purchases on the iTunes Store.

• Home Sharing helps you manage your family's iTunes collection between computers in your home. iTunes can automatically transfer new purchases, or you can choose just the items you want.

• Genius Mixes are created for you by iTunes and play songs from your library that go great together.

• iPod and iPhone syncing now allows you to organize your iPhone and iPod touch home screens directly in iTunes. Syncing is now also more flexible, allowing you to sync individual artists, genres, or TV show and Podcast episodes.

• iTunes U items are now organized into their own section in your iTunes library.

• Sync with iPod nano (5th generation), iPod classic (Fall 2009), and iPod touch (Fall 2009).

• iTunes 9 also includes many other improvements, such as HE-AAC encoding and playback, more flexibility with Smart Playlists rules, simpler organization of your media files inside an iTunes Media folder, and more.

It still does not fix the scrubbing issue in windowed movies in Windows. Now, instead of being extremely erratic and unpredictable, it merely pauses when I try to grab the slider.

Has Palm Pre hacked back into the iTunes again? :)

What improved look? Looks the same to me. Why the heck won't they give us some new skins!

You're reading the list of 8.0 to 9.0 features, slick. Notice how there are two separate sets of bullet points.

Not sure it's supposed to improve... that was for the move from 8 to 9

I wonder why I had to agree to new license terms... something about iBooks in there? To uninterested to read... ripping cds instead.

Very happy to see that they may have fixed smart playlist syncing to the iPod Touch.

Scrolling through Grid view is still not anywhere near smooth on iMac 2.4 C2D -ATI2600HDPRO

Hope they've found a way to get rid of the stupid Genius mixes when you sync your iPhone. Getting tired of hitting that toggle arrow all the time.

Doesn't fix the smart playlist sync problem on my iPhone. My Top 25 Most Played playlist is still a jumble of random songs.

But the real question is: are they your 25 most listened to songs? lol. The Top 25 playlist is supposed to be random... it's all the individual tracks you select to play more than any others. Add "play count" to your music library, then sort by tracks and see if it pans out. Maybe you're surprising yourself with what you really listen to. lol

mine are random songs. The top 25 in itunes is completely different than my top 25 in my ipod

Yeah, unfortunately it didn't fix mine on the iPod Touch either. My top 100 most played are just a random assortment of my music. Even some songs that have never been played. :( I really hope they fix this soon.

Despite the bullet points beneath "iTunes 9 comes with many new features and improvements, including:", those have all been a part of iTunes 9 since 9.0--they aren't new.

That's the list for what’s new in iTunes 9 from iTunes 8, Mr. Smart.

It only took them 4 months to fix a major bug in the smart playlists syncing.

Nope, longer. It STILL isnt working.

Would be nice if they'd release security patches immediately instead of releasing a meaningless x.y.z iTunes version...

Great. They broke the zoom hotkey again. It doesn't toggle between the miniplayer and full player anymore, even though the zoom button does.

They just fixed this in 9.0.1 after breaking it in 9.0. Amazing that they could get a regression in so quickly, especially given how loud the complaints were when they broke it last time.

seconded – SO annoying!

Thirded!

they should really make this thing easier to navigate by making like in a windows when you check your files and it shows u folders

Luckily, this time you can get around the zoom/miniplayer keyboard shortcut nightmare!

Just go to System Preferences, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts. Then add iTunes as an application and add three shortcuts;
1. "Switch to Mini Player" to Control-Command-Z
2. "Switch from Mini Player" to Control-Command-Z
3. "Zoom" to Command-Z (or whatever you prefer)

However, now deciding to steal cmd-right from spaces DOES annoy me (although again is fixable)! It's got to the point where I dread each new update, knowing I'm going to have to run about fixing iTunes' mess.

Since I installed the update yesterday, iTunes has stared cutting out/stuttering during playback. Maybe once per track but frequent enough to be annoying.

The Mini Player now has its own command. View>Mini Player. (Cmd-Shift-M) It's not broken!

The iTunes 9.0.3 "upgrade" has ruined my all my iPod settings! It won't let me sync the music I want to, it deauthorized my computer from the people who authorized it for me, it keeps coming up with all these weird unnecessary messages, & it keeps making me resync my ENTIRE library! I just want to go back to the last version! T^T

DON'T GET IT. My iPod is now being completely ignored when I plug it into my laptop now that iTunes 9.0.3. Device is now completely ignored.
