Macworld reviews Turn-by-Turn Apps for iPhone
TomTom ($100), Navigon($70) and Sygic($80) turn-by-turn navigation systems all get a once over from Macworld's Jason Snell. Concusion: all are good but a bit pricey at the moment. Update: Gizmodo has a more in-depth review.
We'd like to see some other apps thrown in there and also a comparison between the iPhone app and the seemingly better choice of a low end stand alone GPS which retails for around $50-$70.

Might want to have that concusion looked at.
Not much of a review really.. basically says they're all the same and it'll cost you another $50 to get car mount + power for it.
None of them are reading street names, road names or destinations so are poor for navigating in an area you're not familiar with or complex junctions.. that's enough to put me off already.
I've tried two of them and they speak every turn roundabout etc and street names.
The new Navigon version has TTS so it speaks everything. Will be available from app store soon (free update on current customers).
I don't see how a stand alone gps is a better choice, about the same price, doesn't gain features, when it's dead it's dead, an app is yours for life and can go from phone to new phone, and it on you all the time, even as a passenger in a friends car, and equals less clutter.
And you can put that app on 5 iPhones, since you can have more that one iTunes account on an iPhone now.
