In June 2010, the iPhone will go onto other carriers increasing volume of iPhone sales. -Brian Marshall, closet fanboy who is street high.

Personally, I like Verizon and think they have the best overall network in America.  However, every analyst and user out there keeps mentioning ONLY Verizon.  It'd be cheaper/easier/faster for Apple to simply add 1700MHz band and start selling on T-Mobile immediately, while creating a dual mode version for Verizon/Sprint/US Cellular/Cricket/Boost and every other large and small carrier out there.  The iPhone is HUGELY popular.  Yes, Apple makes a ton of money on iPhones sold, but Apple should look at broadening it's base as wide as possible to net all the increase App Store / iTunes store sales.  (I know my purchasing of songs started picking up when I didn't have to jot songs down for later, but rather could start buying them on the spot...)  Frankly, they could probably even ditch the iPod touch if they simply started allowing contract-free iPhones to be sold from a variety of carriers.

So will the iPhone still be available on AT&T?

So is apple ditching at&t or just expanding the carriers?

I just switchedto Sprint earlier in the year(fantastic rate plans and great reception where i live) and I would be ecstatic if I could get an Iphone on sprint.  While I like my Pre, the lack of apps is making me really miss my Iphone.  I really think an Iphone + the simply everything plans for sprint would be an amazing combo, especially if they kept the telenav service bundled as it currently is.

I Totally agree with you on that...i am on Sprint's network with a HTC Hero right now, but i'd rather prefer an iPhone...the Simply Everything/Everything Data plans seem to harmonize well with iPhone...

What is so hard for these people to understand that Apple does NOT take a subsidy cut when they end exclusivity and go to other carriers? Apple execs explicitly said the price is the same whether they're exclusive with a carrier or not. Everyone wants the iPhone and they're all willing to pay a huge subsidy to get it.

Thats just about the time i break even on the early termination fee with AT&T!!!

I CAN'T EFFING WAIT to be rid of them forever!

I'll never use them for cell, home, business phone, internet ANYTHING!

BOYCOTT AT&T FOR LIFE!

Bunch of lying sacks with garbage service and obscene prices.

They have the nerve to mention how great their 3G services are in Chicago!  I get Call Failed messages daily!  Frequently I'll dial a number and the phone will just sit there for over a minute without doing anything...  (It never did that when it was hacked to work on T-Mobile!)  Or how about going DAYS without getting the voicemails people leave... Or how about calling another AT&T customer and having the phone call ring & ring & ring but go to voicemail.  I've had numerous times when I repeatedly re-call a friend (also TRAPPED into an AT&T contract) who's sitting right next to me with PERFECT 3G reception and having the call just NOT GO THROUGH...

I can't even tell you how DONE I am with these crooks.
