iPhone app turns speakers into world's weakest fan

If you were looking for an additional I/O on the iPhone, we think we've found one.  'Blower' turns the iPhone's built in speaker into a fan that can blow out birthday candles and 'refresh your skin on hot summer nights'.   Uh huh.

Sure, it is a gimmick, but so are fart apps and those have made more than one person rich.  Speaking of which, this one is $.99 at the App Store (via Gizmodo)

Boy. it'd be nice if it were a little bit quieter. har har.

Lame.

Sad that this type of app gets such coverage. It will sell like crazy just because of the publicity.

i second that!

it's pretty funny, but wouldn't it wreck you speaker, strange that Apple would allow an app that could potentially break the speaker, i assume it ramps up the speakers output to constant full volume possible?

Can any clever sound boffs tell us if it would do any damage?

The fan almost looks like it's rotating the wrong way.

Wanna completely destroy the speaker on your iPhone? There's an app for that!

They should have called it a vaccum as the blower fan is spinning the wrong direction if it's supposed to be pushing air out not sucking it in :-)

to fuck up your speaker.

Ok.  so there are fart applications. And they make applications that blow air. Hmm...  I gotta go.  I have an idea for an app I gotta put together.

You sir, are a genius.  I wish I had thought of that first.

without a scent for that, moving air, it'll be just another fart app.

Jeez, is this "no sense of humor day"?

It's funny.

You guys are all downers.

This app is right up there with "more cowbell" and is totally worth it for $.99.  It's certainly more interesting and more entertaining than 90% of the stupid boring games for iPhone.

People will remember an app like this long after the 100th boring clone of monkey ball or tetris is already history.  We should reward this kind of originality, not dump all over it.

I agree.

I think the thing people are forgetting is the fact that ITS A FRIGGIN PHONE!!!!.

If it was something that was designed to be something more than a gimmick or tech demo then sure come down on it all you want but for the sheer fact that it was designed at all is something amazing.

Seriously people are too spoilt for technology nowadays, Gone are the days where you would have to carry a backpack just to carry your "mobile" phone.

I agree that people are forgetting that it is in fact a phone. It's purpose is to communicate not to blow out candles or whatever. Sure, some of the stuff you can do with your phone nowadays is amazing, but honestly where will this end?
