AT&T second line iPhone to clear out iPhone 3G inventory
BGR's AT&T Ninjas got their mitts on an AT&T internal presentation which seems to indicate that they are going to be unloading some 3G iPhones at $599 and $699 no commitment pricing (which is much lower than their previous no commitment prices) starting on March 26th. Don't take our word for it, but it looks like this might be an inventory clearing measure. For...say...Junish?

What is the price penalty to bail out of an existing iPhone contract? Isn't it far less than $400?
Just sign up for a contract and then cancel it in 1 month and pay the penalty. Save big.
No cahnce of unloading many at that price! Why not offer them at $99 for a second line or new contract to move them? ATT will not sell more than a handfull at that price! What a JOKE!
I am a HAM - and it is COOL, not antiquated.
Some people may want to pay $700 upfront so that they don't have to pay the $30/month data plan. After 24 months that will save you money ( $30 X 24 = $720) Only a $20 savings for the 16GB model, but much more on the 8GB, and even more if you already have a cheeper plan than those offered today.
Seems like a dubious financial proposition. First, there aren't any other plans by any provider that are less expensive. Secondly, you propose saving $20 to $120 by rejecting a data plan. Seems to me that 24 months of a data plan is easily worth $5 per month (considering the optimal rate)
In short, this seems like a plan for someone that has no concerns about money and value.
Nice try buddy on the no data plan, but if you'd have actually read the details it specifically says that a data plan IS REQUIRED to activate the phone. Next time read before you start making supposed savings calculations. Personally I don't see any benefit from buying the phone at this price to not have a contract.
well it's cheaper than where i leave (Romania). Here Orange has a pre-pay offer at 600 EUR = 800 $ at our current exchange rate (no monthly subscription, but STILL locked to Orange). If you want a true non-commit purchase, you pay a further 60 dollars. Outrageous (don't even get me started on the data plans).
