Dude drops iPhone3GS into pool while recording video...still works?!?!

This is pretty incredible...IF true.

iPhone 3GS user KhenaKara accidentally dropped his iPhone 3GS into a pool while video recording and amazingly it kept recording.

Since he was recording you can watch the whole experience in the video below. Days after the event the phone still works fine.

It seems Apple may have taken some steps to make the device more watertight. A friend dropped my iPhone 2G in a puddle and it stopped functioning immediately.

Also, the mic kept working as well.  Even the autofocus and the light adjustments were working at the bottom of the pool.  You know what they say..."Don't try this at home".  Drop happens about half way through the clip....

"had a few people comment on seeing a strap in the video. I have a rubber cover and had put a strap through the earpiece hole to avoid just this type of thing. I didn't have it on my wrist at the time, but believe me, I will from now on!!!! Maybe the rubber cover helped with it not getting damaged."

Right...
Since I have never seen an iPhone with a cord, I would say it's fake.

So because YOU'VE never seen such an item, it's obviously fake since you're the expert on all that is iPhone?

Seriously, go play in traffic you douche!

Yep, there is something

2118

Yep, there is something sqaure'ish in the frame. It has to be an iPhone! Dude, do you also see a lot of "Jesus'" in your cornflakes?

BS

2133

No one gets out of the pool and it comes back up into his hands. He was standing on the side when he drop it and when it came back up he was standing on the side of the pool.

Yes, this is really odd. Hmm

3622

Yes, this is really odd. Hmm how the hell did he get there, really, really strange. Wait, let me think - it's very unlikely, but he might have used his legs to actually jump into the pool to recover his iPhone. Yes, when I think about it, this is how it could have happened!

Weird. Wonder what the cord

2523

Weird. Wonder what the cord is attached too. Later on in the video it seems to be one long cord because you can see it in the pool after he picks up whatever it is he is using to make the video.

Its a fake!

1823

I am sure it is just a underwater or water resistance camera... you can clearly see the camera strap at 31 seconds. Its not the kind of thing you see on an iPhone but it is something that you would definitely see on a normal camera.

Idiot!

I thought I read on another site that he had a case on it?
And for the people asking how did he get it out, I'm sure the guy is standing in the water at the end of the clip.

This is probably fake. That

2722

This is probably fake.
That cord belongs to a waterproof camera or a waterproof case for a photo or video camera.
If he did shoot it with the iPhone 3GS, he would probably upload it to Youtube directly. But there's no "Made on iPhone" banner below the video's description.
And, not to be arrogant or anything, but that was some seriously bad acting. And you can tell.

To all you guys who wonder

2422

To all you guys who wonder about the cord, the guy stated that he had a rubber case for the iPhone with a cord on it.

he must have felt like a

he must have felt like a realy idiot. . . nearly losing a new iphone 3gs after just getting it.

its not called the jesus phone for nothing.

Hard for me to believe...

2320

Has to be a miracle! Or the 3gs has solved the water issue... I spilled just a little tiny bit of coffee on my iPhone and it was bricked.

It's not Fake!

2326

It is not fake in fact it is very real!  My friend saw this and thought it might be cool to try it out so he did and it worked nothing happened.  kind of crazy actually, im anxious to see it in a few days ha!  he recorded it!  heres the link

It may work, I capsized while sailing in the Charles River with original iPhone on board. It swam for about 20 minutes in the water before the ship got pulled in. After drying the phone for a day it started up and played one more song. Then after turning it off again it would not start up again any more.

ipod survives laundry

1921

I lost my ipod 1st gen a while back and found it in my dryer when I was doing laundry. My ipod still works. It went through the wash, the dryer and it works well to this day.

When I first found it I tried turning it on, and the screen had some weird crystal like shapes on it. The wifi also didn't work. I let it be and bought a new one. After a few weeks I wondered if I could sell the broken ipod. When I turned it on the wifi worked and the screen went back to normal. Other then a few scratches from the spin cycle, it works great.

Apple should have that in an ad. iPod a little dirty? Just through it in the wash.

iPhone swimming

2118

I jumped into the deep end of a pool with my 3G in my pocket while I was on holiday last month, it got soaked through. I jumped out as soon as I realized what had happened, got the phone out of my pocket and on the screen it said "This accessory was not made to work with iPhone". I managed to turn it off although the screen wasn't very responsive so it took a couple minutes. Once it was off I left it on the balcony in the sun for two days, now its fine. One point to Apple.

I accidently washed my iphone

2118

I accidently washed my iphone in dishwasher and it still works! In fact, I think the only the that happened to my phone is that some of the dust particles that got trapped underneath the LCD screen were washed away. God I love Apple!

1918

Why wouldn't it work?

It's in the water for like 2 seconds and it is moving so hardly any time for the air to escape and because it doesn't sit on the bottom of the pool the motion will prevent any water from seeping in as it is pushed away by the current caused by the motion of the iPhone.

Physics says that no water should get in
