unlocked 3G on 3.0

The Dev team seem to think that they'll have the 3.0 OS jailbroken before Friday.  Judging by their track record (and the screenshot on the right), we tend to believe they'll be able to do it.  Cycorder and Qik might be a nice consolation prize for those who can't afford to upgrade to the 3G S's video capabilities.  As for the compass...well...  

From the Dev Team:

As anyone reading this blog must already know, this is the big week where Apple releases their official 3.0 FW to the public (Wednesday), and then the new iPhone2,1 hardware, aka the iPhone 3GS (Friday).

On Tuesday evening (just before the big Apple release) we’ll do a live demo of the yellowsn0w carrier unlock working on official 3.0 firmware.   The actual link for the feed will be twittered by @MuscleNerd and also placed here when the feed starts.  The demo should answer everything you need to know about the new yellowsn0w.  But it’s good news for iPhone 3G unlockers everywhere.

Meanwhile, we’re in the middle of testing our PwnageTool and QuickPwn tools, which will work with iTunes 8.2. The jailbreak of course continues to work on 3.0 for all devices it ever worked on, thanks due the Pwnage 2.0 technique released last summer.   Our tools will be released no sooner than the Apple release (just in case!).

P.S. For the new iPhone 3GS, please don’t expect periodic updates about any progress we have or don’t have.  Nothing gives Apple the upper hand like someone tweeting or blogging partial hack results.  That’s not how cat & mouse is played :)  That’s how the cat gets fed.

I'm not a punk and I don't use / support cracked apps. However I really like jailbreaking, since it opens up doors to make your beautiful iPhone even prettier. With customizable themes and usability softwares, the experience is enriched ten folds. So I really am looking forward to this.

How can a screenshot with T-Mobile as carrier be considered evidence that the iPhone has benn unlocked? T-Mobile is one of the official carriers for the iPhone, at least in Germany, Austria & others.

Well what ever YellowSn0w does with 3.0 or 2.1 i just dont trust these small software UNLOCK small file or deamons what ever they want to call it its just not safe.

What ever you do i bet , ur information is going through that file now a days everything is just open and if i want to do online banking via iphone i will never do it if i jailbreak my phone and unlock my iphone via yellowsnow as they mess up with ur original OS files and you dont know what its been change.. if you know u should be able to unlock it ur self.

I understand jailbreak will give you bit open door may be yes or no .

and then you have to be on mercy for unlock to be released if new firmware released after few months with some update or modem firmware update.

I would say just stick to your contract or buy a factory unlocked iphone like me yeah more money but for the long term ur head is in peace its just to much stress running around for unlock to iphone and wait for ywllowsnow or blacksnow to be released.

how are you going to preview the unlock of the final 3.0 firmware if its not out yet:?? The copy that ur downloading is probably still a developer copy and that unlock wont work the same on the non-developer copy as it does for that copy.

The 3.0 GM was already released on June 9. Its the final version, that's why its called GM, and it is prereleased to devs for them to final check that their apps do not exhibit any 3.0 specific bugs.

I think Dev Team will crack and the 3rd version. They've hacked the first and second version and theese one won't be a problem.
