iBluetooth to bring file transfers to jailbroken iPhones
You know that Bluetooth chip in the iPhone is capable of doing wonderous things, right? It is able to do A2DP stereo wireless and EDR Bluetooth file transfers. For some reason (battery?) Apple has decided to leave these features out of the software.
Never fear, MeDevil has found a way around Apple software limitations and is building a hack that will allow file transfers called iBluetooth. It will be in your Cydia iSpazio repository "soon".
As with all hacked applications, we urge caution when installing, you don't want something like "this" to happen. (This = Android app that erases memory and installs spyware.)
Frankly, we'd more like to see Stereo Bluetooth but we'll take what we can get. (via Giz)

I had an argument a few months back with Big Boss over A2DP. He was all, "Nah, it's stupid to use bluetooth for music. You should get headphones that receive music over WiFi". Aside from the fact they don't exist, he not once suggested using AirTunes for his silly idea, and never realized that AirTunes induces a 3 second delay, something you don't get with A2DP.
It's fun to argue for a half hour with someone who is seen as some sort of "leader" in the jailbreak community and realize how utterly stupid they really are. I too look forward to A2DP on the iPhone, Comrade.
Heaven forbid - a "leader" that doesn't know everything about everything!? How will we survive!
To bad A2DP would require a hardware change and not firmware tweaking. I would much rather see something other than bluetooth in the device for handling the wireless streaming of music to wireless headphones. Bluetooth is a major battery drain and it's always "searching" for devices which would just run the battery down a lot faster than it does currently.
So as you might have guessed, I keep my bluetooth turned off always.
As far as using this app for file transfers, I probably won't ever use it. I find it just as easy to SSH into the device via WiFi and transfer files over the network to my computers that way. It's probably faster as far as transfer speeds and it's definitely faster as far as finding the file and moving it.
But that's just me.
