Google Earth for iPhone...wow
Frankly, we don't know why we didn't see this coming. The iPhone has a pretty solid mobile 3D chip, loads of caching space, GPS and an awesome touch interface. All perfect for a mobile version of Google Earth.
The app is pretty solid but a little clunky to start up. It does include Panaramio pictures, Wikipedia entries that are geotagged and bunch of other nice stuff. We do get a pretty consistant crash when we try to move after a GPS lookup - your mileage may vary.

The initial load time is very long and the app seems to be loading a bit more data in the background than it should - the globe tends to get rather hard to rotate at times. I wish it had a higher res texture to begin with and only loaded bigger data once it's "landed" in a specific location. A great initial release, though, and I'm sure Google will use its armies to optimize the code in a later release. A definite must-have app. And of course it's free, too.
This so freakin' rocks. iPhones can do anything!
and I thought McCain's teleprompter reading was bad
I'm just wondering how much it will eat out of your data allowance.
I found some pics of a new MacBook and Imac from a special mac event. It's the MacBook Wheel.

Google Earth video shows proudly European maps but the APP itself is not available in EU countries! Why?
Stupid iTunes regulations...
Steve, can you explain why iTunes is not available in those countries where iPhone is already??

Works fine for me. It's the top free app in the UK.
