Apple has released a much extended version of its latest ‘Get A Mac’ ad, with PC offering his full-length country and western ode to the failures of Vista. Go see...
I don't think these adds are particularly fair. I have to force quit safari frequently, my MBP has trouble waking form sleep properly and the whole system does sometimes freeze and require a 10sec press of the power button to reboot it. Leopard is nowhere near bug/crash free, IT'S probably better than vista and the UI is better and it doesn't get many viruses, not perfect though.

Ah, nothing like downplaying the achievements of others to distract from your own failures. What's that market share of Apple again when it comes to Desktop computers?
Leopard may be freezing for you, however, there are not Mass reports of problems, there are a number of Known issues (I get bulletins on a weekly basis), in Vista that Microsoft has acknowledged and have not been able to fix even in the Service Pack (Also remember they had to Pull SP1 because it didn't work right. Also BTW if you have an HP with an Athlon Processor do not install XP SP3, it will make your computer reboot over and over, and safe mode does not fix it.
What is Apple's Marketshare on desktops? Well 66% In the premium PC market. Apple is also the ONLY computer maker that has posted growth in the last couple years in the computer market, they increased their sales 50% last quarter on Mac Sales.
I know from a computer sales aspect (I'm a service tech in a retail store), we are having a really hard time selling PCs with Vista on them. We nearly sell out of all of our XP units a week after we get them, and we're selling more Macs now than EVER. And so far all the other techs in the shop I work at have bought a new Mac in the last 6 months, because they are tired of fixing PCs at home.
And yes, it IS advertising, they don't HAVE to provide numbers. But to assume them stating that a lot of people are having trouble with Vista isn't true is false. A LOT of people ARE having trouble with Vista.
I am an Apple Tech. I can honestly tell you that Leopard has more than it's share of "Glitches", just like Vista. Think about this....Apple Designs their Software & Hardware, Microsoft only designs the Software. Bashing Microsoft because there are problems with Vista, is like bashing FORD, because you have a flat tire. They don't have the ability to fix every problem that comes up in Vista. Also, if Leopard is so great, why do we have 2 SERVICE PACKS already? Read this article http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=758 if you think that Leopard is the most Stable and Secure OS on the market.
The glitches in Leopard have NOT kept anyone from using all of the major functions of the computer. I've had people bring in their Vista machines because a Vista glitch kept it from Booting. Also Apple released service packs to fix some bugs but mostly to add features for new devices. I'm not going to for a second say that Apple doesn't have any issues with the OS, but none of those issues are keeping me from getting my work done. That is the point of the commercial, there are a LOT of people complaining about Vista because it keeps them from getting anything done. BTW there is a difference between Stability and Security. The article you linked does NOT speak to stability.
I've yet to have a Mac freeze up just because I plugged in a printer.
Was the Glitch a result of Vista or was it Hardware related (i.e Memory) I have personally built hundreds of Vista machines (as well as XP). I have also worked on an equal number of Leopard machines. 99.9% of the problems that I have encountered in Vista were not an issue with the Operating System, but rather a incorrect driver or corrupt third party Application. Keep in mind Vista like Leopard will run on older Hardware, but Apple and Microsoft don't recommend it. If you have an Apple or PC that was built to run the most current OS, your stability issues would be almost non-existent.
On a side note, I have never seen Vista lock-up due to a peripheral being plugged in.
So, are you saying 50 per cent of the tech support stuff you do is about Mac? If so, what are those PCs actually used for? Still, what you say is true is true about most tech problems, on both platforms, third party drivers and apps -
I run a retail store that sells Apple and PC's. So both are used in Business as well as Personal use. Most of the problems I see with both Operating systems is caused by the "PICNIC" Virus (Problem In Chair Not In Computer).

Fair?
Of course it's not fair. It's not a documentary. It's advertising.
