Front facing camera in WWDC presentation iphone?

Gizmodo points us to an interesting little video shot of Phil Schiller's iPhone during the WWDC keynote. It looks like there is a camera in the upper left hand corner, right?  Obviously lots of journalists have got their hands on real 3G iPhones so it may just be a finger smudge.  However, it is hard to argue with the video - it does look like there is something there.   Maybe Steve's "one more thing" will come in a few weeks?

We can only hope...

I'm going to have to say nope. That really doesn't look like anything but light reflecting off a smudge.

Have you checked out the various cases available for the 3G? You will note that there would be ample space for the camera, and for each case I've found... no one covers that area, or any area where you place your ear.

You can see something unmistakeably round with depth. Doesn't mean it is a camera but it sure ain't a smudge.

I don't know what you guys are not seeing. It clearly looks like there "could" be a camera there. Don't just dismiss the possibility! There ARE smudges on that surface and they look totally random and different than the perfect circle in the upper left corner on the face of the phone.

Maybe a new version for Christmas?

If you look frame by frame.... the same smudge is on the lower right side of the phone. I looks the same so maybe there are tow cameras. I highly doubt there is one even though I would love the ichat experience.

This is an OLD topic now, according to more than one article in the past week there is indeed something there, under that smudge, it's rather obvious, but it's said to be a additional proximity sensor NOT a camera. Lets see what happens when the things actually goes on sale...

Definetly something... definetly NOT a camera, probably a sensor.

That said I still think there will be an iPhone Pro... no rumors or anything, just my imagination.

does anyone honestly believe that if there was a front facing camera that apple is keeping secret until surprising everyone in a few weeks (it even sounds funny typing it) that they would let phil use it in a video demo and risk being seen? ummmm..... no. no they would not.

Dunno what you guys are thinking. Why should Apple demo a new version of an iPhone when they just introduced another one. They KNOW everyone is scrutinizing the pics. No way. They also would piss off a lot of case manufacturers. And you can clearly see that Phil is a very greasy person, having tons of smudges on the rest of the iPhone's surface, too.

Sorry folks, it's a smudge, no speculation, discussion over.

I noticed that the iMacs on the table of the wwdc Keynote looked different than the currently available ones,and very different too.The one on tue iPhone

I can't even believe people think it's more than a smudge. Do you really think they would publish photos all over their site without a camera, just to include it in the product anyways??

it takes 5 minutes to upload images to a website.. especially considering the 360 degree view is a crappy model, and not like the typical great quality 360 view that are on the rest of the site.

It does look like something is there but it looks to me to be a sensor or something. Its kinda hard to be sure but I cant see the light sensor or the proximity sensor above the ear speaker like the 1st iPhone. They may have had to move them around to make space.

It's possible it's either the ambient light sensor or the proximity sensor. If I look in the right light on my iPod touch, I can see the sensor. That's probably the sensor visible because of the glare. Methinks...

Sorry guys, I totally forgot to tell you all about this camera. It's really there. We were just so happy with all the new 3G, GPRS and enterprise features, that we totally forgot to tell you about this new gizmo.

Its a light sensor, just like the one in the current ipod touch.

its just a finger smudge there is no front camera pause the video at that point and look closely and you will not see a camerae at the front.
