O2 slanging free iPhones, also pay as you go plans...

Oh to be in London today.  The sun is shining, the weather is nice (!!) - at least for the moment - and O2 is giving iPhones away for free* with certain plans.  Business plans included.   I am ordering the whole office iPhones!!  From O2:

iPhone is now free on selected Pay Monthly tariffs*
There's only one thing better than an iPhone. The new 3G iPhone.
*Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff.
All tariffs include unlimited browsing on your iPhone, unlimited Wi-Fi access, visual voicemail and reduced roaming rates with our International Traveller Service and are subject to a minimum term contract of 18 months.

As far as we can tell, no other carrier has dropped the free bomb yet.  Come on Telefonica!  Our Madrid office needs new iPhones!

Who thinks we can buy it from the US (from O2) with the pay-as-you-go plan?

;-)

Thank you o2 and apple :)

p.s. I know yourll probably release a 32GB before xmas but im too impatient to wait ;)

I saw that PAYG thing. I've VERY tempted by that, but would definately have to look at the price.

Also, whats the word on jail breaking at the moment?

Jailbreaking is up in the Air.  those guys are pretty talented...but you never really know

The website of Movistar (Spanish mobile company selling iPhone) is operative just few minutes ago. It's just a registration form in order to receive further information, and also you can read de press report (spanish) that Movistar launched today about the event.

the link to the site is: www.movistar.es/iphone

sorry! :)

I seriously hope O2 aren't going to make us wait until too like a month after launch to buy the Pay/Go option.

And that the 16GB is at most £329

It says on the O2 website if you are already an iPhone customer you can switch to the 3G before July 11th (subject to new 18 month contract) and you can give your existing phone to someone else.

Included minutes is 75. WTF?! Is that to make the £35 contract with 600 minutes seem great value? How many people will take that option up!!!

That's the perfect plan for me. 99% of the time I'm in the office or at home. I don't need to use the mobile to call very often, and on the rare occasions I do I can eat the call charges easily.

OTOH unlimited data is important to me.

Until this plan came along I was forced to pay for hundreds of minutes I'd never use just to get the data... now I'm not.

I think its aimed at those who want data on the go, with a phone for emergencies.

In comparison in Finland one can get a Nokia E90 for 82,95euros per month including 3000 minutes of talk time, 3000 sms, 3000 mms and unlimited data at 1Mbps. Not sure about the roaming costs though. www.saunalahti.fi <- in Finnish.
