The Mozilla Foundation has announced that Firefox 3 will ship on Tuesday June 17.
The news comes as Mozilla moves toward breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads of an individual application in 24 hours.
Mozilla has received over a million pledges from users prepared to download the software when it ships, with Firefox users across the world signing-up to download the all-new web browser that day,

I support the FireFox
I support the FireFox Download Day because if they manage to set that Guinness record for most downloads of a single app in 24 hours, it will do a little bit to bring alternative browsers to the attention of the general public. Still so many people who use IE because they don't realize they have a choice.
Just like email clients and operating systems, browser diversity is important for maintaining open standards, for security, and to inhibit virus proliferation. But mom and pop with their cheapo Dell don't necessarily understand this, so I'm always trying to educate people.
Hopefully Download Day will do a tiny bit to make it easier,
if only so people will say "Oh, I've heard of FireFox" instead of just "FireWho?"
Amen
Amen
Yeah... It'll bring it to
Yeah... It'll bring it to their attention and then the server will crash and then they'll go back to using IE.
Choice
Yes i totally agree with you.... even if i love Safari and i don't use FireFox anymore.
Does anyone know if the mouse
Does anyone know if the mouse gestures (or whatever they are called) that work with the Macbook Air and the latest Macbook Pros will work in this release like they do in Safari?
Why?
Why do you care about FF?
After *36 months* they still can't find it in their OSS hearts to improve web standards support.
Personally, I think FF3 is the biggest disappointment ever. All the energy these guys have, all the moment and this is all they can accomplish?
Lame.
Why not?
You sound like a crazy person. Really, I don't see the problem. It's FREE and OPTIONAL, and--unlike some other browsers--it isn't crammed down your throat like a parasite when you download a certain audio player. Is the fanboy god really so jealous?
No, just the browser user in
No, just the browser user in me.
I use FF every day. The plugins are awesome.
But what they've delivered after all this time is a joke.
Just because it is free doesn't mean nobody is aloud to critique it.
Look, these guys get a lot of support from the community and a lot of respect. To get respect you gotta earn it. I think they're slacking and resting on their laurels.
can someone explain how to
can someone explain how to make firefox a hell of a lot faster on my mac?
use safari. or, go grab the
use safari.
or, go grab the latest build of webkit.
Firefox is the suck.
Firefox is the suck.

ff3 and iweb
I've still yet to hear if either apple will update iweb, or firefox will get a last minute update so that the photo galleries made in iweb work. so far they don't work with FF3...
