He's old. His target audience thought that was great. It wasn't meant to be good. It was meant to be funny and ridiculous.

Why do we have to listen how to use an answering machine from a cell phone?

It's like the cashier who always tells you "First press the green button to accept, then ..." - well it's anoying and 99% of the time worthless because if there is actually anyone on the world who didn't know that he will ask, right?
