Bell, Telus network upgrades afflicting Rogers' iPhone reception?
Network conflicts may be the culprit for recent reports of iPhone reception problems in Canada, as other carriers begin to install “dummy” HSPA towers, reports The iPhone Blog.
A rep from Canadian iPhone carrier, Rogers Canada, told a customer that reception problems may be attributable to Bell and Telus who have recently begun upgrading their network.
“It is probably due to the new HSPA towers being put up by other carriers that is interfering with your signal,” the rep is alleged to have said.
The rep suggested affected users manually select the Rogers network rather than allowing their iPhone to make an automatic selection.
That operation takes place in ‘Settings’, where users should go to ‘Carriers’, uncheck the automatic tick-box and then only select Rogers from the list of carriers they see.

You know... one would think that with three networks competing with each other and offering the same phone, the prices of the services would be more competitive. But NO!! All of them have horrible rates (data and phone plans) I could understand Rogers taking advantage of everyone before, since it was the sole provider, but Bell and Telus are doing the same! What gives?
All of what you talk about polarbear is to change, since Wave Wireless got approval despite being funded by Egyptians (against the CRTC rules which were overturned by the gov't) more competition will come. And since this new comer is a real newcomer they will push it down. then next year Dave, and videotron will further pressure it down. Its about to get good in Canada, so don't renew your contracts with the big three.
It's WIND Mobile, not Wave Wireless, and it will be far better in terms of cost and services offered, though their network will not support iPhones as it will operate at a different frequency (running AWS).
Maybe they'll get the Google phone?
I fear little will change as long as we only have 3 truly national carriers who make sure they keep in lock-step, because profits are more important than competition. These guys know that they've got it good and they want to keep it that way.
As for interference, only you urban users need worry. For the last 2 years I have had "NO Service" 60% of the time on Rogers network, and the nearest 3G is 3 hours away. Much of the time I can't even get EDGE... and it hasn't improved one tiny bit all that time.
