Apple preps June .Mac upgradeSubmitted by Andy Space on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 13:44.
Multiple reports this week have claimed Apple’s preparing to introduce ‘push’ email support to its subscription service, but it appears there’s even more improvement planned. Among other new features, .Mac users can perhaps look forward to full over the air synching of calendars, contacts and email; .Mac synching on Windows and more. These features will raise the bar and versatility of Apple’s sometimes criticised subscription-only service, while enabling .Mac users to enjoy similar features to those offered through Microsoft Exchange. These new claims are being promoted by TUAW, which claims “a source” informed the site of the plans.

Features like these are what
Features like these are what .Mac has needed since inception. Apple's stock is going to go through the roof!
More reasons that we will see the iPhone 2.0 announced sooner...
This will just give Steve more to talk about at the WWDC. Hence there won't be time to roll out the new iPhone at the conference, and hence more likelihood that there will be a town meeting this month to introduce it.
Anything from 9to5 sources about the new iPhone rollout dates?
i told them the new phone
i told them the new phone would be announced june 2 but they didn't post it
so there you go
Ace! As someone who has been
Ace! As someone who has been a .mac member since September 2006-I welcoming these new changes to service; now if they could only increase storage gigabytes...
Well this sucks. Features
Well this sucks. Features added to an overpriced service that no one really needs. Steve will make sure to drag out WWDC to talk about this plus 2.0 SDK that we already know about, and there won't be any time left for a new MBP.
Stupid .Mac
(DISCLOSURE: I own .Mac)
I like my .Mac service.
I like my .Mac service. $69/year (you can negotiate it down at the retails store), or even $99 is worth the .Mac sync feature for me to keep my multiple Macs all synced up with contacts, calendars, bookmarks, etc. Throw in respectable email, web galleries for my iPhone, 10gb online backup space, web hosting if I want it, and it's not a bad deal for a Mac owner. But then again, I'm a drooling, rabid, kool-aid drinking Apple fanboi, so what do I know. I know someone's gonna post you can get .Mac sync and other features for free, but are any of those options all in one seamless and easy for multiple machines? If so, post away, I'll give anything a try.
Finally.... I think I have
Finally.... I think I have been a member since 2004.... it was outdated then. They really need to re-do the whole thing - sounds like it will be AWESOME!
I used to trash dot-mac, too
I used to whine about dot mac, too! It's hard not to when you got iTools for free back in the day. But you know what? I bought it and use it every day now. I'll be re-subbing when my term expires, too. If you use GarageBand, there are loop that (if used) would pay for the service alone.
Beats the crap out of a thumb drive so long as you have good net both at home and at work.
It just sounds like an
It just sounds like an iPhone .mac update. If you don't have an iPhone or a Windows machine what's the big hooha?
perhaps they should
perhaps they should concentrate on making the existing service functional first. so that it's actually possible to upload large files to the idisk fast and reliably, for example.
