Surface meets the iPhone.  Check it out here.

Looks like Microsoft's Surface tricked out to look like it's OS X working with an iPhone.

The Surface is cool, but the $10,000 price tag needs to come down about $9,000.

I don't know is MS has updated there Surface thing.
.
But did you look at the technic behinde the first versions of it?
.
Well bacis it is not a touch screen.
It works with a lot of camares and infered camares pointed at the table, and then analysing what is going on, and then "pretent" that it is a touth screen.
.
And all of that show with look how smart and fast it is to send picturs to and from you cell phone.
.
Well
1) You have to set up a connection or there is a big security/privaty problem
2) How can it transfer data so fast? Any one tried to transfer data over bluetooth to and from your computer?
Noway it is as fast as that video.
.
They came with something that looked cool, had an idea how it could be cool.
But did not have any idea how to make it in real life, and still do not have any idea.
But every time someone make something that works, and looks like it, they are comming out and saying. "See that was our ide" and my guess is when someone start making money, they want some of it. "becouse evented the idea"

Deduction fail.

if the phone actually switched to the "Sync" screen when she was throwing the sh** at it, I'd be a bit more impressed.

Fun "target" video though - we should absolutely be shooting towards this.

its somekind of front end to itunes for windows 7 beta by the sounds of it, so a visual representation that triggers a 'script / command' to sync that media, kinda cooll though.

It's actually a multi-touch screen that can be plugged into any computer through usb and costs around $2400, the link can be seen on the actual youtube page.

It's that new HP touch screen thingy.

The HP Touchsmart PC..... I don't think so!

Microsoft restricts to run any Apple apps or devices via its Surface unit. It is one of the rules you have to sign when buying it. And the price per unit is 17 000$ if you are in US. In Russia we bought one - the final price was around 22 000$.

FAKE!!!!
There is no "Synchronizing" screen while uploading/downloading.

there's also no "Synchronizing" screen while accessing the iPhones files via SSH or SFTP. And while you are connected via SSH or SFTP you can still use all the apps and files.

The surface is $10,00 not $17,000 and it's not the new HP Touch Smart. It's called an iTable.

maybe it uses bluetooth to get the data off the phone?

how? with audio bluetooth only on the iphone.

Bluetooth is way too slow. Even WiFi syncing would take a few seconds to transfer a song but would probably be the best way to go. I'm assuming the video is proof of concept and would probably work if there was simple, wireless peer-to-peer on the iPhone.

one if the person who put this together wanted to really impress everyone they would show the iphone with all the new data they put on.
Two I bet they hid another another phone behind that one and distracted you by having a woman with really flabby arms do all the work.

Man... All you people do is guess.
If anyone bothered to go to the website that's linked to the video, they'd have found out it's called an iTable. I don't know if the software that enables touch capabilities in various OSes is included ( I didn't look because I didn't really care), but the hardware is neither $17,000 or $10,000 - the price for the iTable looks to be under $2500.

Here's the link (the video with the iPhone is under the "Demos" tab:

Same exact video of the third video on this page....... http://Multi-Touch-Screen.Net/demo.html

That it's M-Soft that is... I've been wanting one of these for a while now...

BTW, where'd they come up with that name? It's real catchy...

Again what is the point of this kind of thing other than to waste your time?

She put the iPhone on the table, it appeared to barf up random garbage from the phone (pics, movies, music) then she rotated and sized some pictures, which accomplished what exactly? Correct! NOTHING.

Then rotated and played a movie, then set it aside...still running... WHY? Who knows? God knows I just NEED to randomly rotate a movie 15 degrees out of alignment then shove it half way off the screen still running so I can listen to some music at the same time, then shuffle through some crap, then start ANOTHER movie.

You know what I do when I'm working, and i've accumulated a bunch of real papers on my desk? Thats right, I CLEAN the fucking desk off because it's impossible to work with a desk full of garbage!

How does that make my life easier? Where does all the crap she didn't put back on the iPhone go? Does it stay in that environment? Does it go in the trash? Does it go back on the iPhone? What if I don't want my iPhone to barf up all the media that is on it when I set it on the table? What happens when i have thousands of songs, hundreds of photos and dozens of movies on my iphone? How do I do anything useful with a virtual desktop of super vomit?

Chill out mate, its only a demo vid, keep ur panties on lol
