I like my .Mac service. $69/year (you can negotiate it down at the retails store), or even $99 is worth the .Mac sync feature for me to keep my multiple Macs all synced up with contacts, calendars, bookmarks, etc. Throw in respectable email, web galleries for my iPhone, 10gb online backup space, web hosting if I want it, and it's not a bad deal for a Mac owner. But then again, I'm a drooling, rabid, kool-aid drinking Apple fanboi, so what do I know. I know someone's gonna post you can get .Mac sync and other features for free, but are any of those options all in one seamless and easy for multiple machines? If so, post away, I'll give anything a try.
