China Unicom's Prez: iPhone to become China’s best-selling smart phone
Bloomberg has the story.
China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. Chairman Chang Xiaobing said he expects Apple Inc.’s iPhone to become China’s best-selling smart phone, countering skepticism by analysts who say the handset is too expensive. “We’re very confident about the market position of the iPhone,” Chang said yesterday in Hong Kong in his first interview with overseas media since becoming head of the company in 2004. Unicom, China’s second-biggest wireless carrier, started an advertising program for the device this week, he said.
That could just be being a good partner but good to hear nonetheless -especially with Android phones from Dell and others on the way.
In other Chinese iPhone news, the Wall Street Journal posted a state of Chinese iPhone apps story today. Takeaway: Even though the legit iPhones are just getting started, all of those gray market users are still buying apps.

Sounds pretty sweet.
I've always thought that it is easier for Apple with it's sparse product line to succeed in this type of superlative. Nokia devices may outstrip Apple's, for example, but no single device sells more. Therefore, Apple claims the superlative because it offers so few choices. Even the different capacities are just an iPhone for statistical purposes.
The sole player of iPhone in a 1.3 billion population market... sounds great...
Low starting monthly charges... nice...
Student packages... for young ppl... cool...

In china Iphone are distributed by Unicom who sales this iphone at a hefty price and with the data plan or without data plan. They sell iphone at more than 25% of price in America. Then also this phone is the best selling phone in China. Looks like in china everybody is rich, iphone sales are rising like anything.
