New Blackberry ad takes a shot at Apple
Durrrr. Maybe they should focus on the physical keyboard angle instead of the metaphors.

The ad is silly but made me smile. It doesn't look a pro ad and my guess is that it's not an official BB one.
Well, if it is, BB has to try much harder!
I thought it was a clever ad with the blackberry until the slogan "No one can touch it" came up. That immediately made me think, don't they mean, no can type on it, given the button thing.
They used part of Pink Floyd - Echoes in this ad!
Yeah what a joke. And I don't see any point to putting that in the Ad
Proof that RIM is scrambling to drum up sales for their devices as they watch Apple laugh all the way to the bank.
The world's first touch-screen blackberry. Nothing can touch it. WHAT? Does that even make any sense? and second, how hard is it to have the world's first --insert feature here-- blackberry when you make the damn Blackberry in the first place? That's like saying the world's first pink and purple polka dot blackberry...
If this is a real commercial, RIM, fire your ad agency. If it's not, pretty sick special effects...
Plus, in real life, the Apple would just crush the blackberry into juice...
> how hard is it to have the world's first --insert feature here-- blackberry when you make the damn Blackberry in the first place?
hahaha so very true :-) great point :-)
let's launch an apple at a blackberry and watch the blackberry be smushed and vaporized! Too bad just about everyone i talk to who has the stupid blackberry hates it. Why would you push down on the screen that's so stupid, it takes forever to type on.
nobody touch that sh*t
it would be funny if they sold 4 million phones in the first quarter, but they didnt
RIM is going dead
their blackberry blows.
This is great! It's way better than anything Microsoft have come up with. Apple needs some good competition RIM just need a decent smartphone now.
The tag line needed correction. "The world's first touch-screen blackberry. Nothing can touch it." more accurately should state, "The world's first touch-screen blackberry. Nobody will want to touch it."
This is a very badly conceived as strategy - by referencing Apple, RIM is just reminding everyone that they're in the Shadow of the iPhone. Instead they should just focus on the merits of their own product, which is a good one.
With this ad they're helping to cement the effect the iPod has enjoyed among MP3 players: EVERY SINGLE ONE is constantly compared to and rated against the equivalent iPod. The viewer then thinks "So is this a good alternative to an iPod?" which still contains the idea "iPods are the standard - maybe I should get one."
So now the iPhone will dominate the smartphone market, and even the ESTABLISHED LEADER is helping Apple get to that position.
Crazy.
agree!
Time for, "Hello, I'm an iPhone. And I'm a Blackberry."
well at least is original :p
ps the captcha sucks
Back at MIT in the 70's I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Harold Edgerton and taking two Lowell Institute courses in his strobe lab. He pioneered high speed photography taking still and motion pictures of short time events, such as a bullet going through and apple.

They stopped on the frame of the Blackberry going through the Apple, that was depicting the blackberry storm locking up and needing reset.
This is plain stupid,
In reality the Blackberry should go splat the moment it hits the Apple.
Someone should make a counter ad showing an apple rolling over and flattening a bunch of blackberries or an Apple dropping on a blackberry and splashing it.
And the blackberry goes "SPLAT" at the end of the ad. How appropriate!
Seriously, does anyone actually think this is a real BB ad?
Real or not, notice how it doesn't make an attempt to talk about features, functionality or style!
http://www.woopid.com/ has both iPhone and blackberry video tutorials though.
i bet this add was made on a MAC
Media Access Control?
Its interesting how the apple explodes outward even when the "blackberry bullet" goes into the apple.
It shouldn't explode outward on both sides.
Umm.. yeah, that is basic ballistics, often called an Exit Wound.
Umm... no. That would be an entrance wound. An exit wound is where the bullet leaves the body.
But, yes, there could be an explosion outward at the entrance wound. Use a slingshot to fire a rock into a sandy beach and you'll see an "explosion" even when the rock is going into the sand.
I liked the ad, but after watching I had a sudden desire for a smoothie.
I have to admit this ad made me laugh.... but not as hard as the first time my friend told me to try his BB Storm! What a piece of junk. I was trying not to laugh in front of him because he kept saying, "It's just like an iPhone."
Saying a BB Storm is like an iPhone is like saying a Hyundai is a Mercedes!
I think it's so funny how BB can't get rid of the buttons. They want a QWERTY keyboard so bad, they had to make the whole screen one big, stupid, hard-to-press button. (PS - the typing correction on those things..... do they even have it? I tried for 10 minutes to type out one sentence without mispellings.... junk.) :)
I bet this is gonna be on Mythbusters now... The meat bullet wasn't enough, so now there's the berry-bullet!
