POTUS uses a Mac

Now that the campaigning is over, we have the opportunity to reflect on an amazing milestone in American history. Barack Obama is the first...

US President to be a Mac User...

Another view

Newsweek reported:

To help bridge the physical distance between father and daughters, Michelle recently bought two MacBook laptops, one for Barack and one for the kids, so they could have video chats over the Internet.

Oh, and he's not the only one on the campaign using MacBooks.

Update: There has been some question as to whether Clinton or Bush used Macs.  Clinton sent a grand total of 2 emails while in the White House - which was two more than Bush.  They both used PCs.

...and don't forget Russia's new "president"

He also uses an iPhone!! There is a photo out there somewhere of him using one. I believe it was on TUAW

I didn't vote for him, but THIS is change we can believe in!

I believe he has the Invisible Shield on his MacBook Pro

No, actually it's a clear Speck case. Far more popular than Shields.

I'm using the case I bought in the Apple Store with my MacBook Pro.

No I think it is the SPECK clear cover notice the square box on the top part.... the invisible screen does not make that.

Bush uses a Mac and an iPod. So did Kerry-- and they were in Time magazine last election.

I'm pretty sure Obama's the first to use words, though. He's got that, right?

Bush uses an iPod yes but is repeatedly shown using a PC.

>> I'm pretty sure Obama's the first to use words, though.

I think you mean he's the first President to use complete, grammatical sentences in the last 7 years.

Bush uses a Mac....

Bush used a 17 in lamp imac. I worked for the company that was contracted to set it up and order it for him in Millersville, MD. They even had the secret service agents come and pick up my boss who went to the white house and set it up.

The company I worked for though wasn't even an official apple certed repair shop at the time though :P. Let me go after the dot com crash

Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry (and so-called-President George W Bush) are all Mac users.

Well duh, Al Gore is on Apple's Board.

Even Karl Rove uses an iPhone.

With that many pols of both parties using Macs and iPhones, I have to believe Apple is the devil's tool...

There are a couple external 2.5" drive enclosures in the main photo; I have one just like them, from OWC.

Oh, and I love the Pac-Man sticker. :)

I found the black Pac-Man eating the white Apple a bit disturbing...

Give it a rest.

word.

broadband internet in every home and a mac in every hand, yes we can

the first picture of Obama loos really fake. his head looks Photoshoped in, but it could be real

Agreed. What was the source of the original photo?

Edit: After further investigation, it appears to be completely legit. The photo was taken by Peter Yang for the Rolling Stone magazine. The original photo can be found here and was used in the print edition of this article.

Bush wasn't very computer savy. Like the update in the article said. Clinton sent two e-mails and Bush sent none - while in the whitehouse.

I think the next 4 years will be the most technical in the history of our country. You have a somewhat tech-savy president. I think you will see a large difference in the numbers of E-mails. I'm sure in 4 years, Obama will send like 10,000 emails or some such number.

I take that back. After reading one of the linked articles, it seems that there is a whole problem with E-mail in such a position. So they are told not to E-mail when the become president.

However, I think that once the personal stuff is ironed out, E-mail will be used more by this administration than any other.

The president is not allowed to send emails, or use a computer at all. Just think about how much time you spend on email, now imagine you are the most powerful man. If he were on email, he would never have time to run the country.

Huh? "The president is now allowed to send emails or use a computer at all"????? "If he were on email, he would never have time to run the country"?????? What's he supposed to do, dictate letters to a secretary for every conceivable communiqué that doesn't require vocal communication? Who is he, Larry Tate?

What do you think he's going to do with a computer online, surf porn all day?

f-

bush wasn't very savvy in general

Gore used a Mac. If you count that in. He was VP then Presidency candidate.

Gore is a MAJOR mac nut. He has always been. He also has THE most cluttered office I have ever seen. Smart guy, but not very neat and tidy.

No no... I meant, yes he is a major mac nut, but the article is taking about Potus-es. He was a POTUS candidate, or a VPOTUS, but he was never a POTUS (to the disappointment of some and the glee of others)
