The Apple Youth movement is in full effect according to a new post by the Loop.  Apple has set up three new programs for kids: For Families (workshops show kids how to improve their skills using all of the iLife and iWork applications); For Teachers and Schools (Field Trips from school to work on projects) and For Kids (“Apple Camp.” Bring your kid to an Apple Store and they'll learn how to use iLife and iWork and bring home a DVD with their creations.)

Registration begins in May.

Take your students on a Field Trip to an Apple Store for an unforgettable learning experience. On their Field Trip, students can create something amazing right on the spot. Or they can bring in a project they’ve already created and turn our store into a theater, sharing their achievements with parents, teachers, and friends. No matter which option you choose, everyone will have a great time.

Apple Camp

Camp is back this summer. Registration begins in May.

Nothing beats Apple Camp when it comes to a fun summer activity for your kids. In free workshops at the Apple Store, kids learn how to do cool stuff on a Mac using iLife and iWork applications. They’ll make a movie, compose a song, create a photobook, and learn how to present everything to an audience. When Camp is over, they’ll bring the projects they made home on a DVD, along with skills and ideas to create even more. All workshops are recommended for ages 8 to 12.

DO NOT drop your kid off at an apple store. You could be arrested for child neglect. They are not a baby-sitting service. The program is for children, yes, but you still have to stay there with them.

WIth that out of the way, I don't like Apple adding more programs to the store when they are so overrun and overcrowded already and the genius bars so understaffed.

all I'm going to say is one thing " your an A$$ ! " why would you assume people would just drop off their kids .. Obviously your a single lonely man who punches his purple clown all night long... and thats why your bitter ...

Actually, you'd be surprised how many people try to drop their kids off and go shopping elsewhere.
Happened all the time.
That being said, I found it odd that this is being called "New" when Apple stores have been doing these programs for a couple of years now.
o.O

Wow? Bitter Noob in deed.

Well I mean it's just like effing mardi gras in those stores no matter what time of the day you go, and yet, with all the staff, they're not set up to repairs (in my experiences) in any sort of timely manner. The store near me is practically a hook-up bar. There are women dressed like women of the night who are just standing around vamping.

Wow, you got issues. It's a small store...with popular products, it's going to have a lot of people. If you don't like it, go in the morning, when the kids are too cool to go. Problem solved Grandpa/ma...oh and stay off my lawn!

They sure catch the kids at an early age. Watch out parents, it's a trap. They are going to not only want an iPod Touch but a MacBook once they are finished with the class.

And to the Bitter Noob- Stop being so bitter.

I won't even bring my son into Providence Place Mall anymore because the whole place has been over run by hoods.
And any parent that would turn their back on their child in any apple store needs to be admitted for a 72 hour Psychiatric evaluation.

Turn their back? When did Apple Store become a back alley? When was the last time a 8-12 year old got abducted chillin in an Apple Store?

You're perception may (or may not) be accurate of your location but I can tell you, in California, we have no such problems...at all. For the most part, only the affluent shop in Apple. I see as many "hoods" in there as I see in Nordstrom, meaning very little.

I saw shit about this on Apple websites like 3 months ago?

IT was just the Camp part - they did that last year - the school trips and such are new

Nope. I did all three programs for the last two or three years.

yeah why is this new this has been going on for three years? new would the test pilot programs for one to one and the genius bar in the colorado

I have read your article for a several times and I was impressed by it! It was very interesting so I shared it with my friends. Hope they will like it too.
