The face of Apple Stores to come
Apple's new Scottsdale Arizona Store is a sign of things to come according to CNET. The new store has a much bigger Genius Bar than most its size. It also has some new design elements:
When looking through the wall of windows on one side, you can see straight through to the other side of the store and out another wall of windows. If that wasn't enough to give you a feeling of space, the Scottsdale store also has a 75-foot long skylight.
Apple plans to open or update more than 100 stores this year incorporating some of this new thinking.

Nice!
The link is wrong
Yeah, wtf is up with that? An ipcc file?
oops fixed
That looks freakin' sweet!
They are renovating a lot of stores to increase the Genius Bar Size due to the high demand of people not knowing how to use their computer. Or because systems need repaired after the user dumped their Coke in their computer.
Is that link to tethering settings also ment to induce a feeling of space? ;)
The apple store at the Palisades Mall in west nyack newyork is getting a renovation too.
That's the way ours looks in Greensboro, NC - Feb. '09.
The grand opening is tonight at 6pm and I'll be there. It looks amazing from Scottsdale Road on the other side. I've been waiting for this for 5 years!
Maybe they should focus in adding more stores? I hate how all the stores are only located in super populated, super important cities. My city is the biggest city for about 200 miles, with people from the surrounding cities coming here for shopping, work, etc., but the nearest apple store is about....300 miles?
What gives?
I agree, I am in the 3rd biggest city in my state and the closest store is still over 200 miles away.
This store is huge. I just got back from the opening. It's much bigger than it looks. There's a genius bar on both sides in the back. Pretty sweet. The opening was incredible. Must have been over 1500 people already...easily. There had to be over 200 people in their when I was in and didn't feel crowded at all. The ceiling is so tall and the skylight is pretty cool. Almost looks like there's no roof.
Can't be very warm.......?
The store is amazing. Never seen anything like it. Apparently the floor has this weird cooling system. I took my shoe off to get an idea and noticed the floor was very cold. Around 7 o'clock the window drapes come down and the light from the floor, give it a nice look from outside (scottsdale road). Overall i see this store being a huge impact in this Area. But I'm gonna keep my one to one and genius bar service at the Biltmore Store. Hopefully it will take a chunk of the head count in that store down.
We need way more apple stores in Indiana. We only have one (in Indianapolis). South Bend would be a good city to start with, and maybe Fort Wayne and Evansville.
I think that if it weren't for the recession we'd be seeing the media pad already and judging by the remodels where I live they have some awesome things planned for the future especially with all those gaming patents I keep seeing. This Arizona store is a model for what will come.
