…you'll see until tomorrow's press day.  We got these snaps from the roof of the theater across the street.  The new store opens to the general public on Saturday the 14th.  You'll notice the whole back wall is Genius Bar, one of the biggest we've seen.

Many more pics below.

It would suck to windex all that... I wonder how many full time window washers apple employs between that store and the rest of their new york stores.

keep the apple store info coming! i dont mean to gush but i love the aesthetics of these stores. apple's stores justify the modernist movement. le corbusier (the "less is more" guy) better be sending some good vibes from the afterlife cause he owes apple a debt of gratitude for finally turning his basic ideas into a functional reality.

yu mean Mies . . .  "less is more."

oops, thanks for the correction

I wonder how many full time window washers apple employs between that store and the rest of their new york stores.

Oh my GOD!!!

Let's get a road-trip together and go to the opening. I understand there are iMac's, Macbooks, Macbook Pros, iPod, iPhones and al sorts of other Apple products on show and for sale.

And look!! the store front is GLASS!!! Jeez I don't think I can stand the excitement!

A glass fronted store that sells computers ......... just like the other 3-4-500 or so around the world.

Get a life guys!! No, get a gun and blow your brains out if this is the highlight of your life. Your loved ones have my sympathy.

That was necessary?

Wow, this post is pretty shallow.  Clearly, you took the time to look at the photos yourself but then choose to mock those who are excited by beautiful architecture.  People make trips to Chicago, Paris, Rome, etc. to see beautiful architecture.  Applause to a company that is willing to dedicate as much attention to their retail facilities as they do their products.  We should all provide the same attention of detail to our own lives.

Boring! is it really necesserary to open more apple stores? would apple sink from its own hype?. Apple needs a coffee shop inside the store thats how it will keep it interesting.

Yes it is necessary to open more Apple stores. Apple stores are the main outlet for their products. If it weren't for these outlets how would Apple sell their products? Another reason that Windows has a more expansive user base is because they are literally sold everywhere. Aside from that, in New York it was necessary because their other New York stores weren't meeting demand for product. This store levees the supply to the demand, which means they can make more money, in fact this store will make millions. Which is why it was necessary. Please think before you leave anymore uninformed comments. I do agree with you on one account though. A Starbucks would be wonderful in the store. I can see why Apple doesn't allow it though.

Boring!

It's Microsoft's marketing team that will be excited for that road trip. Oh my GOD!!! Let's get a road trip together and see what ideas we can steal for next year!

That would suck if one of the neighbors decides to toss their TV out of their 15 story apartment window!

Is that a genius bar or an iPhone display area?  The thinks on the counter look like displays not the blank slate that is a Genius Bar?

Then again, I could be wrong.

Currently, there are no residential (nor commercial) buildings with windows close enough to the store for someone to toss a TV out onto the roof of it.

As for the need to open stores, the Upper West Side has a dire need for one, as the closest store for this neighbourhood is about 50 blocks down, on 14th street. Besides, for the entire city of New York, there were only three stores, and they were all packed at all times. The 5th Avenue store is busy 24/7; on several occasions I came in at 3AM on a weekday, only to see people buying iPods, MacBooks, etc (there's a reason they call it "The city that never sleeps"...).

Upper West Side has high concentration of creative people and academia (Lincoln Centre is there, as well as many who work at Columbia U). These skew neighbourhood heavily towards Mac and everything Apple. They can finally shop in their own backyard.

NYC needs at least 3 more stores (Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx).

The 5th Avenue Apple Store is the highest grossing store in NYC per square foot, surpassing Tiffany's, etc.  It is even a major tourist attraction for the city. Amazing!  Microsoft stores will be lucky to match the profits of a suburban mall Hot Topic. This new Apple store near Lincoln Center will have to compete with the 5th Avenue store, and I think is does so spectacularly.

I don't think a new Apple store is the highlight of any of our lives. We do find it cool that Apple is doing so well. Evidently the highlight of your life is cruising Mac sites and posting crap. It ain't us that needs to get a life.

Just to be picky, these are not "picts."  They are "pics."

A "pict" is a macintosh picture format liken to the *BMP format for windows.  No one ever uses "picts" for "pics."

How about starbucks, jamba juice in the apple store?  for all the hipsters out there.
