Update - delayed until March 6th

We've gotten reports as well as TUAW that there will be an Apple event tentatively scheduled for February 26th.  The event will likely be the launch pad for the iPhone/iPod touch SDK and applications including Exchange support and Lotus Notes support.

The date was likely finalized recently as Apple, who usually announces some new products at NAB, pulled out of the early April event for the first time in recent memory.  Perhaps Apple is saving its Final Cut Pro Server announcment for the February event - or more likely, as we've heard, pushed it back to mid-year.

It could also be the launch pad for the new MacBook Pros which have been waiting for the late-to-the-party Penryn chips.  Since 10.5.2 builds  have been lingering around for awhile now, it might also might also hit around then. 

Did we forget anything?

Errr.... did you miss the last iMac refesh? You'll need to hang on for another 11 months for an iMac refresh.

Uh, what are you talking about. The last iMac update was on August 07, 2007. Apple's product update cycle is approximately every 6 months. The iMac is due for a refresh along the lines of a speedbump at  minimum.

What ever happened to those pix you had of the silver AND black aluminum laptops? We haven't heard a peep on them since that one post. Any idea if that's planned for the pro updates, or are aluminum macbooks on their way as well? I know you guys were also talking about "something strange about the trackpad", and maybe that's what we got with multitouch, but I guess I was expecting something more than slightly different dimensions, like maybe a touch screen or something.

There was a period when you guys were getting the most amazing intel, but that seems to have stopped. Is it the whole think secret settlement, or did the souces dry up?

I'll tell you what happened -- Apple set about a mole-sniffing operation circulating a series of different "rumors" to different people in different areas of the company to see which ones made it to the internet and which did not. They caught 9to5's snoop with the info you mention above, which was never real. Now s/he's no more.

New Cinema displays and a MiniTower to match. A bigger mini with quad cores tons of RAM and a great graphics card. You heard it here first!

I am sceptical about all kinds of aluminium laptops. They are a bit expensive and at the end of the day they don’t necessarily provide any additional features than a non aluminium does.

Well , Rogers (our GSM Carrier) in Canada just launched this week Unlimited mobile browsing  package for 20$ , hopefully its a sign of Iphone coming , perhaps that will tie in with SDK and other annoucments , advising of a deal signed and when it will launch to us here up North!

To tell you the truth, I am quite tired of all this iPhone clutter/nonsense.

I am someone who wants to make a switch to Mac computers, and am waiting to see what happens along the lines of the Macbook/Macbook Pro.

Penryn/Montevina? Redesign?

This fancy phone business is taking up too much time and energy for my liking. Most people are not that enamoured with cellular phones, and all the fancy and expensive gadgets that go with it.

i am SO @#$% tired of waitin for the new MBP! i am going out of my mind! i really am! i have the apple store on my favorites list! i am reading every rumor blog out there and comparing them! i am having daydreams of pinching in and out on CS3! (yes, that was a jab at the MBA, which wouldn't run CS3 to save its life!) i am secretly hoping it is thinnovative! i am following people have incase bags, hoping to catch a glimpse! i am calling people out of the phone book whose initials are mbp! i am this close to getting a "maybe this tuesday?" tattoo splattered across my ass! i am working on a petition for steve jobs to release the new mbp! i sit around all day and wonder why the MBA is stealing all of my dear apple tech guys time and not allowing them to work on the real deal laptop made just for me....i think! know what...fuck it. im gettin a macbook air.
