As usual, Apple is bringing up the rear and copying the rest of the industry. But I bet *its* DRM-free music will be really pretty. Late, but pretty. Like the two-button mouse.
You're an idiot. If it wasn't for Apple's open letter on DRM and their first DRM free deal with EMI, nobody would be selling DRM free tracks. The reason they're slower at getting more content than Amazon say, is because iTunes is the market leader in downloads and the rest of the labels not wanting to join in is only them trying to leverage some control away from Apple. If it wasn't for Apple's first move then we'd all still be waiting.
The journalistic quality of the various Apple rumors sites lately has been crap.
I grant they are rumors sites written by amatuers, I'm no pro, but could you please make some attempt at quality control.
"the New York Times is speculating..." The New York Times is NOT speculating. Saul Hansell is speculating on the NYT blog page which hardly carries the same wieght.
BTW, the abundence of garbage I refer to began with the news about iPhone firmware 1.1.4, with which every rumor site refered to eachother as if that somehow bolstered the veractiy of the rumor. Then just yesterday I noticed Katie Marshall's peice on Apple Insider's in regards to the Linkin Park rumor where she wrote "It's unclear weather this "secret" New York City event...", the use of "weather" has since been corrected in that peice.
For future reference, if you're going to be critiquing people's spelling and grammar, you might want to make sure your own post isn't riddled with spelling and grammar errors. :P
Pretty nice guess actually. Agree that is what is likely.
AppleTV HD going international is about studio agreements, licenses terms, local taxation, subtitling, etc. It just takes time to get the details ironed out. BBC is the first strike.
What I want to see more than ANYTHING is more iPhone country launches immediately. I am sure Apple has penned many deals with European and Asian operators on launches but only contingent on the iPhone 3G model. I had hoped that some other countries would go ahead and launch early this year with the existing model. Lets see.
Most iPhone forecasts for AAPL Q2 (this quarter) are assuming additional sell through based upon more euro launches.
For all the people that are saying there is going to be a price drop. Don't be so stupid Apple may be thick but there not that thick!!!:) Remember what happened with the iPhone; if Apple lowers its price on the ipod touch it will leave many people wanting to sue them(again:0) so there!!!! lol

not to forget the ipod
not to forget the ipod (touch) price drop(s) :)
I would love this to be the
I would love this to be the event that announces availabilty of movie rentals in HD worldwide....
But Linkin' Park has nothing to do with movies.
The thing that interests me most about the DRM free tracks (besides philosophical issues) is their higher quality.
But I still wish strongly that Apple announced the availability of content in more and more countries, before releasing a MacBook Pro...
And that because movies are cheaper and my wallet cannot take too many "hits" in a year.
And - a G5 Powerbook!

Oh did you come up with that

They're talentless ass-clowns that will be irrelevant in a few more years.
I don't care about linkin
I don't care about linkin park, which is rock for little girls and I don't care about DRM free music.
All I want is a new and really improved MacBook Pro.
iTunes needs to loose DRM.
iTunes needs to loose DRM. It is the only way to keep the millions of customers in the Apple fold.
