Apple was interested in Admob before Google purchased for $750 million

If true, today's Bloomberg report that Apple approached Admob about acquiring the advertising company just weeks before Google swooped in and purchased them would be a departure from Apple's traditional business.  It would also underscore the increasing competition between former corporate "friends" who, only a few months ago, shared board members and interests in dethroning Microsoft from its monopolistic perch atop the computer world.

Apple contacted AdMob a few weeks before Google made its bid, said one of the people, who declined to be identified because the negotiations weren’t public. AdMob, based in San Mateo, California, sells ads that appear on mobile phones.

This follows the weekend story from the NY Times that Apple is considering implementing advertising into the OS.

I doubt it, i don't think Apple is interested in the advertisement business (at least for now).

well those who thumbed down the comment, why don't we hear your comments and argue with my observation?

This just works with OS X ads patent filled by Apple

Buying MobAd and running the OS X with Ads would generate many $$$ and they could give away their macs for free.

MS does it with MS Office, Google does it with Google and Android...

It's logical Apple has to follow!

On the other hand the Apple Tablet with online papers for free but sponsored via ads makes sense! Just like today magazines do!

I disagree... Apple's whole

I disagree... Apple's whole model business (since 1997) is high-end hardware coupled with high-end software. We never heard it was interested in any kind of ads business.

it makes sens

AdMob matter

Making selection in the world of advertising is really difficult to do. Mobile advertising is much easier to deliver than the usual online advertising. Acquiring AdMob is a good move for Google. As if there wasn't enough advertising that we all have to see constantly, to the point that anytime we browse the internet, turn on the TV, etc, that it makes the average person want to vomit profusely, but AdMob, the mobile advertising company, will likely be well utilized by Google and their Android platform, which has been selling like hotcakes – heck, if you tell these cell phone/tech dummies that it has Android, you could get them to pay hundreds for a lead balloon.
