ARM tablet notebook - could be like Apple's

Share

We are just providing this for your consideration. We largely think Apple will move in the ARM direction for their ultra small portable devices this year. These images are from a company who are using similar hardware and are able to charge $299 for this device.  Obviously this is a little boxy for Apple's taste but the internals would be comparable.    Specs and more picts below:

Also, notice in the video they talk about the iPhone and how this device "will play iPhone games".

 The specifications

  • 9.4" x 7" x 1.4" for 2 lbs (with keyboard)
  • ARM Texas Instruments OMAP3 chip [just like Palm Pre]
  • 1024x600 8.9'' screen
  • Storage: 8GB micro SD card
  • Wifi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth
  • 3-dimensional accelerometer
  • Speakers, micro and headphone
  • 6 USB 2.0 (3 internal, 2 external, 1 mini)
  • 10h to 15 hours of battery life

Yes I too saw this and thought Apple! A nice piece of industrial design :)

You guys really need to end your obsession with low-end garbage that ends up being used by 3rd graders.

Apple is NOT coming out with any sort of netbook device with keyboard, screen, and kinda, sorta processor abilities.

Apple will watch the PC industry kill each other running into this space - being pulled in, because they can't help themselves.

Apple Mac sales are going to continue attacking the PC buyers who are looking for full-fledge computing systems - and there are hundreds of millions of those people in the world, while the PC mfg's all slice themselves silly on the low end with netbooks.

I AGREE. THEY ARE SUCH LOSERS. LET SEE THEM DESIGN A NETBOOK THAT HAVE THE ABILITY OF A COMPUTER.

This is as ugly as it can get

There's no need to physically dock with the keyboard. Apple won't do that. It just needs a stand or a kickstand for the tablet part. The keyboard is wireless bluetooth. So is the mouse. I'll mock something up and put on my site soon.

This is ridiculous that you guys are so obsessed about hacking into all of these dumb devices to make it a "Mac". If your website is 9 to 5 Mac, then USE Macs and USE ONLY Macs. It is disgusting how much you guys lose your minds when someone decides it would be a good idea to take this hunk of trash and put OS X on it. Please look back to your roots. Please revert back to what your name implies. Think about the topics you are going to discuss. I understand that NEW things are not brought out all the time from Apple but please don't bore us with these terrible ideas that people have for no reason. IMPRESS us with Apple and all of the WONDERFUL products they make instead of all the junk you feel the need to show us on a day to day basis.
Think about Apple when you post this and if it does not involve them, don't show it.
If you'd rather use PCs then change your domain to something else or just quit and hire people that really care about using Apple products and are generally impressed at how amazing they actually are.

Easy enough right?

Way to have an open mind. Bottom line is as great as Apple products can be the netbook is a very popular product, and there would be a huge demographic of people to buy one. All that would really need be done is make an iPod touch with a 9 inch screen and beefed up processor and storage. That could easily sell for $450 bucks and blow all these netbooks out of the water. Think outside the box for chrissakes.

I am very curious about this whole netbook thing. I'd love to get my hands on one.

Getting one that is capable of running OSX is silly, though. You will spend $500 on limited abilities computer. A used macbook makes much better sense.

JUST like that, but thinner, more expensive and a massive shiny logo.

Will. It. Hackintosh?

And why is there no webcam?

I'm tad confused as to why so many people who post here seem to take any netbook or hackintosh talk as a direct personal affront to themselves. It's just technology people, and when something starts creating a sea change like the netbook craze is, it's certainly news worthy. Will apple get into the market? Who knows, but I for one certainly think it's relevant. Articles like this are interesting, so put down the cool-aide and just relax.

I posted earlier on 9to5's obsession with garbage netbooks, and I have come to the conclusion that 9to5 is shifting to some odd business belief that is Apple just stuck it's label on crap (AKA made their own version of crap) it would sell like hotcakes.

Newflash to 9t5mac: This is not, ever, going to happen so long as the majority of current management is at Apple - which looks to be a long, long time. Thank goodness. With 9to5's ideas on what would be great Apple product, Apple, Inc. would become a Gateway in a few short years... I'm sorry, who's Gateway?

I try to get excited about netbooks and then look at my macbook and iphone and think "meh"

lol. yeah but what if they did it and had a baby? How cool would that be?
