Adobe developing Flash for iPhone

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen has confirmed his company is now working with Apple with a view to offering Flash support on the iPhone.
The move follows Apple’s release of the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK). Narayen, who was speaking during the company’s conference call with Adobe investors last night, confirmed the company plans to create Flash player for the iPhone as an application which will be distributed through the App Store to iPhone users.
This indicates some change in the relationship between Apple and Adobe. Apple CEO Steve Jobs this months said the current iteration of Flash Player for mobile devices lacked the horsepower iPhone users need. He characterised the full Flash Player application as posing too high demands on the hardware, and described a “middle product,..that doesn’t yet exist.”
YouTube and the BBC are the only online video providers to format their videos especially for the iPhone.

Ever since Windows Mobile got Flash Player lite I was wondering why iPhone doesn't. I think the answer is Microsoft paid for Flash Player Lite for their Mobile devices, and Steve Jobs isn't about to fork over money. Much like anything else I think they want Adobe to pay Apple for the privilege. Everything we have seen so far conforms with that tactic. True, Apple did pay for Microsoft Exchange support, but that makes sense for Business customers. iPhone doesn't need Flash right now to remain hot espically with the SDK out. Adobe needs the iPhone to extend itself fully into the mobile market.
One More Thing... I think you can expect to see Adobe Flash demo'ed at the June conference. At that point Adobe will have a Flash Medium verison and will have caved to the idea of being Free on iPhone thru Apple.
Frankly I hope not, Flash is crappy and will bog down Safari unless they do a complete rewrite if not they know what they can do with it.
bring it on! i think it's a must seeing as microsfot have agreed to have flash on their phones!
I agree with Steve. Flash lite us worthless. I had it on my iPaq and it wouldnt play anything. Microsoft is just getting it to say "look we have it"
All the iPhone needs is a flash movie player. Somthing like the iPhones QT player. So if you want to view a flash movie it opens in the flash player at full screen. But embedded movies and those stupid ads still won't function. That takes care of everyone needs except for flash games and flash menu systems on web sites. Well the sdk will take care of games and web designers just need to stop using flash menu systems.
