Engadget got a peek at what is likely the new ZuneHD. So how will this thing compete with the iPod touch? We're assuming it will be cheaper than the iPod touch, it will likely have a higher pixel count. It looks more 16:9ish than the iPod's 3:2 ratio.
The tablet space is hot lately with the Amazon Kindle rumored to be getting a bigger screen and the Crunkpad coming out soon.
The Zune, for what it is worth, will have a billion fewer apps sold at release than the iPod touch.
This is becoming frighteningly close to the ZunePhone FailWhale that we all fear.

WOOHOO (sorry for language). but i will say that zune can get radio. i don't think iPod can (but in 3.0 yes? my facts may be off). give an iPod radio and no one will have a reason to buy a zune. haha.

I am dying for a Radio on my ipod, its really the only reason why I still haven't up graded from my first gen nano (2GB) to the new 16GB model. Being an avid jogger, I love the nano b/c of the sleekness of holding it in my hand (fist right in my palm) and also the +Nike attachment which measures the distances I run.
Reasons as to why I want the radio: 1. Morning talk station (101.1 Mike in the morning) this show 9times out of 10 keeps me listening to them. 2. sometimes I get bored of my music and turn to the radio to listen to something more current and mainstream (top 40 type of stuff), its a good way to be introduced to new music.
It may seem like nothing to some of you Apple fan boys (me included...I love apple products) but to me its a big feature that I feel Apple has dropped the ball on big time. If by this new upgrade there is still no Radio, I'll be forced to buy a competitor product. Which IMO sucks b/c I do love the Apple itunes interface. Anyways that is my two cents.

Well... even without a built in radio, any iPhone / iPod Touch user can download Wunderradio from the Apps Store(www.wunderradio.com). It works great, and you can have over 30K radios streaming from all around the world. So, though it would be interesting to have a built in radio, it's not something I'd die for.

Even if it does have all those things and can fly you to the moon and back, it still won't sell well because its called a Zune, it's ugly and made by Microsoft, and you have to sync it with that crappy Zune media player thing which is the worst program ever to plague a PC.

The iPhone is wayyy better for sure but you are exaggerating, the Zune is very good, it is good-looking, the UI is totally decent, it is two years old and has no scratch and battery life is good too. I personally don't understand the radio thing either. If I wanted to listen to crappy sounding music with commercials in it, (A.K.A. "FM") then I would have saved a lot of money and just bought a FM radio.

microsoft as good as ipod
the zune is just as good as apple's ipods. it took apple about 7 to 8 years to get where they are now, and it took zune about 2 to 4 to make up the zune hd i dont know about you but that seems pretty da** decent especially for microsoft. the zune 80 and 120 werent meant to compete with the touch they were supposed to compete with the classic so overall microsoft has done pretty good
