T-Mobile offering $125 discount on iPhone 6S, with lifetime coverage satisfaction guarantee

T-Mobile really wants you to buy your iPhone 6s from the company, offering you the 16GB model for a total payment of just $524 on its 18-month JUMP program – a discount of $125 off the normal price of $649. You pay just $20/month for 18 months, at the end of which you can either hand back the phone and walk away, or pay $164 more to keep it. T-Mobile has described this as special introductory pricing which “won’t last long,” but hasn’t given a specific expiry date.

The company also promises you won’t be locked to the T-Mobile network if you’re unhappy with its coverage – which will be notably better for iPhone 6s users. T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE operates on the 700MHz spectrum, which Apple is supporting for the first time in the iPhone 6s, and is around four times better at penetrating walls to give stronger signals inside buildings …

It’s currently available on the T-Mobile network to around half the U.S. population, with the company expanding it at the rate of a quarter of a million homes per week.

T-Mobile’s flamboyant CEO John Legere says that he is confident no one will want to switch once they’ve experienced T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE service, that it will let you switch to a different carrier at any time without penalty. T-Mobile will unlock the phone free of charge to let you take it to a new carrier – and you still continue on the same financing deal for the iPhone itself.

You’ll be able to pre-order from Saturday via the T-Mobile website, in-store or by calling 1-800-937-8997.

What if you want the 64GB version?

    • exactly. this sounds like a great deal for the consumer. on the satisfaction part. I can try it and if I don’t like the service cancel or unlock and take to another carrier.

    • pdoobs - 9 years ago

T-Mobile keeps the same monthly price regardless of storage capacity but you need to pay an additional fee upfront. For the 64gb you would need to pay $100 upfront and 128gb requires $200 upfront. Also I think the 6s Plus is $24/mo.

Yep. That was what we did when we took advantage of the Jump on Demand iPhone promo. Got 64GB models and had to put $99 down for each. Gotta love that promo though as our monthly prices are $5 cheaper.

I’m sure you will have $100 down payment for the higher memory

    • Hiro (@hiroism4ever) - 9 years ago

It’s $99 extra up front, monthly doesn’t change. That’s the route I’m going.

Just as an update, the monthly charge does indeed change for each different capacity (http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news/t-mobile-links/faq-upgrading-your-phone-with-jump-and-jump-on-demand.htm) due to the higher down payments:
        iPhone 6S: 16GB $20, 64GB $19, 128GB $18
        iPhone 6S+: 16GB $24, 64GB $23, 128GB $22

I just pre-ordered a 6S 64GB in a store. Oddly the monthly payments listed on my contract showed $26. The employee explained (hopefully correctly) that I will be receiving a $7 adjustment on each bill, making the monthly total before tax $19. He said Apple does not allow T-Mobile to actually discount an iPhone, so an adjustment is their way around that.

Can we get the discount of $125 and not do installments and instead pay the remainder at start?

    • bhayes444 - 9 years ago

No. There would be no incentive for anybody to stay on T-Mobile’s service. Plus, after 18 months, when you have to pay off the phone, or just turn it in to get a new shiny one, T-Mobile is hoping you’ll opt for the latter.

    • Rio Mavuba - 9 years ago

Not exactly, but you can end your T-mobile service, get the phone unlocked, and continue paying the installments for the 18 month period.

Reference: “For as long as you use your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus on T-Mobile, if you aren’t completely satisfied with your coverage experience we’ll refund you for every penny you’ve paid for your new device in the first month, or after that, we’ll unlock it at no charge so you can use it with one of the other wireless companies. We’ll even refund up to a full month of your service. For phones that get unlocked, we’ll let you keep our standard interest-free payment plan at our standard prices. ” http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/issues-insights-blog/lifetime-coverage-guarantee.htm

Will this only be an option on Saturday when the phones are released? I can’t seem to find anything about this deal on TMobile’s website. And based on what I have read here would I be correct that the 64GB iPhone 6S Plus would be $100 down and $24 a month for 18 months? And after that 18 month period I would have the option to either trade in the phone for a new one or it would be $164 to keep the phone and have it unlocked?

    • Hiro (@hiroism4ever) - 9 years ago

You can also do the regular 24 month at the standard price, with ($10/mo extra, upgrade once half the phone is paid off, insurance included) or without (no extra cost, no insurance, no early upgrade) JUMP.

Or do JUMP On Demand (by phone or in store only) with the special promo.

    • Hiro (@hiroism4ever) - 9 years ago

Also, you can upgrade at any time, no extra charge, up to 3 times. If you do not upgrade before 18 months, after that period you turn it in and do whatever, trade and upgrade, or buy it outright.

Someone with T-mobile, please tell me, as I am not 100% sure:

but as I understand it, (I have T-mo too), JUMP isn’t free, you pay $15/mo. for JUMP, and then this plan is $20 on top of that, along with your phone & data plan, correct? So, in actuality you are paying $35/mo.?

I’m on Simple Choice plan, got iPhone 6 last year, paying $27/mo. for the phone for 24 months, do not have JUMP, so it’s just the phone payment plus my phone & data plan (+taxes & fees).

6s/6s+ have LTE band 12 (6/6+ do not), and where I sometimes have strong signal inside buildings, sometimes I lose it, band 12 will add more possibilities for signal inside buildings, so I would consider the new thing here to get the 6s, but, not if it’s going to cost more.

    • driverbenji - 9 years ago

($27/mo. for the 128GB iPhone 6 w/$200 + taxes down (pay taxes ahead, then pay off phone with no interest, pretty good deal)…I was trying to get 64GB, but, kept waiting and waiting, not going for 16GB ever again.)

    • Hiro (@hiroism4ever) - 9 years ago

      JUMP (regular one) is $10/month.

JUMP On Demand, no monthly fee (but insurance is optional at $8/month) JOD is the only way you can get the lower promo pricing.

If I pay the phone in full cash do i still get the 150$ for the 64 gb or do i have to pay 750$
