As predicted (after finding out about Labor Day), the iPod event is going to be held on Wednesday 09/09/09....that's according to AllThingsD's John Paczkowski

And according to sources close to the company, the date is Wednesday Sept. 9. The event will be held in San Francisco — most likely at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, where it has occurred in years past — and is expected to showcase upgrades to the iPod line and an update to iTunes that may involve some sort of social element. Our sources insist it will not involve any discussion whatsoever of the tablet that Apple is reportedly developing.

His sources neglected to mention whether or not Apple CEO Steve Jobs would be making an appearance or even keynoting the event.  They did stress that there would be absolutely no tablet whatsoever.

The event is likely to bring us new iPods with GPS and camera capabilities.  We're also expecting to see the 16/32/64GB iPod Touch varieties with $199/$299/$399 price points.  Depending on the nature of the event, we'll also try to bring you a stream of the event, live as it unfolds.

wednesday 9??

Check your calendar... 9th is friday

No! The 9th is a Wednesday. The invitation is so fake though...

Sept 9th is a Wednesday in 2009, but in 2011 it's a Friday :-)

CHECK YOUR FACE! YOU ARE RETARDED - WELCOME TO 2009!!!

YOU SUCK AT LIFE!!!!

THE 9th IS WEDNESDAY!!! MORON!!!

No you are all wrong the ninth is neither a Friday nor a Wed it is in fact a Monday. Relax I'm just joking. Anyways the only thing that I actually cared about was the tablet device which according to this article will not be introduced at the event. All the rumors now seem to be suggesting a Q1 of 2010 introduction of the new tablet my only question to that is, Why did Apple back ditch macworld if they had something that they were planning to introduce in the Q1 of 2010? Doesn't make much sense to me. Hope they introduce the tablet device at this event :) but they probably won't :(

No.... its a Wednesday

Labor day sounds like a mess for those wanting to come from the east bay, The Bay Bridge will be shut down 24/7 from Sept 3 to Sept 8. Think the bridge traffic will be cleared up by the 9th? I wouldn't touch that bet with Steve's money.

seriously. Cal-trans does have very limited resources... but still they lack in the "quality", or especially the "timely" department.

hey, is this a coincidence or why the beatles rock band appears the same day!?

So....does this mean there will be a tablet announced 9/9/09?

no... not at all. no tablet this year.

If the Touch inherits GPS, I'm sooooo ditching AT&T. I would love to keep the all-in-one device but if I can save $20/month by using a Nokia as a wifi hotspot, I will learn to deal. Please Apple, PLEEEEAASE.

8GB will stick around to increase usage and increase it's domination, not sure if it will have a camera, etc initially

if true...that date would also correlate with all of the Beatles remastered albums being released along with "The Beatles: Rock Band". Beatles on iTunes finally? Coincidence? hmmmmmm........

Will the ipod touch get gps this time?

this is last years inviation

Lets rock was last years title

its easy to fake. all the text is in helvetica

there was a brief post on 9to5 yesterday - up for an hour then gone. it said that this coming event was for ipods, a possible refresh to the low end macbook, making it a bit cheaper and that the tablet exists and would be out either late this year or early next and that they hope it would become the 4th pillar of apple's business - which i guess means exploiting untapped revenue through films and tv and games etc on a portable device.

also the ipods would have cameras, possibly even the nano too. this news came through conversation with an analyst at barclays bank.

i wonder why the article was pulled? there was nothing in it that is particularly new, apart from the fact that all the current rumours were collated into one piece. i guess it's either not true and was pulled for being as such, or it's true and was pulled for being bang on. oh the trials and tribulations of an apple fanboy eh.

I also want to look at new iPods with GPS, I think it will be very useful.

"The Qualifying Education Customer must be resident in their country of purchase. All purchases must be made between 28th May 2009 and 8th September 2009 inclusive." Wonder why...

Is there a chance that the iPod Classic will get discontinued so that Apple will go flash memory only?

Once again, we will Rock! This event has somewhat become a tradition among us friends. I am excited to see the new iPods with GPS and camera capabilities...are these for real? There's only one way to find out :-)

I hope all the rumours are right!
