SimCity, 9 other games for iPhone from EA
EA has been hard at work on iPhone Applications and has made and announcement that, along with Spore Origins, it has nine applications that will be ported to the iPhone. SimCity is the one we are really excited to see.
Here's hoping that they totally redo these application for iPhone. We are sick of the 200mb sized Sudoku type games that take 20 minutes to start and slow down our whole synching process. Gameloft, we are looking at you. EA games announced:
- YAHTZEE Adventures
- EA Mini Golf
- Lemonade Tycoon™
- Mahjong
- MONOPOLY: Here & Now The World Edition
- SimCity
- Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 09
- Need for Speed™ Undercover
- The Sims™ 3.

Now that are good news! And also get us Mac version of there PC titles too!
wow ... so, they make more games for iPhone than for mac
now THAT sucks
(no, i dont think "put it to cider" is actual development)
I hope it comes out nice, but they are going to have to work pretty hard to get Sim City paired down to work on the ~500 MHz iPhone processor and still be an enjoyable, playable experience.
I wanted to let you know that the original SimCity came out in 1989, so a fast computer at that time was 25MHz. If this SimCity is a remake of the original, the iPhone processor should be more than up to the task.
SimCity was ported to the Palm so running on the iPhone isn't much of a problem. I'm sure the experience on the iPhone will be light years better than playing it on the Palm.
that's Sim City 2000.
No, it isn't.
Yes, it is. They even stole the screenshot from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCity_2000
no they didnt
look at the picture closely
Who cares what it is? Its a photochop anyway.
yes they did
SimCity for the Palm is the old classic SimCity with the top-down view. I would hope the iPhone can at least rock out to SimCity 2000 or 3000 or whatever version they decide to pull out of their butts. In fact, they should just port all of their Sim games. Sim Tower would be a good one to bring out of mothballs.
lemonade... yay!!!
The original SC was a direct overhead shot, no quasi-3D view. Also notice that the buttons on the Touch have police and fire stations (among other features) that were not available on any version of the original SimCity.
SimCity was the game that got me to switch from my C64 over to the "IBM clone" computers - my dad had one (with a ridiculously MASSIVE 10 megabyte hard drive!) and had SC loaded on it. I went out and bought the C64 version, which sucked in comparison... Later, SC2K (32bit) was a big factor in getting me to switch to a GUI (Win95, sadly...).
I don't think this game (or any game) will be enough for me to make the switch from Nano to Touch, even with the rumored price drops here in a few days; I'm holding out for Nike+ on the Touch.
I will say that, in addition to SimCity, I'd almost certainly have Monopoly, Sims3, PGA Tour and N4S on there after the first sync!
Oh man, check out the simcity anoraks. I can only imagine what a SimCityFan.com forum reads like! ;)
