Debbie Downer Dalrymple: No Tablet until 2010
Jim Dalrymple, former Macworld Editor at Large and current CNET contributer says he's heard that there will be no tablet at the September event. The event will be typical music and iPods only. The iTablet, according to him, won't be revealed until 2010.
Very reliable sources familiar with the product have said speculation of the tablet being introduced during the September event are flat out wrong. The Apple tablet, they said, would not see the light of day until the first part of 2010.
Though Dalrymple seems pretty sure of himself, the beard has its doubts.

While I don't expect to see the tablet at the September event, I think a lot of know it all are suggesting early 2010. Most I believe are basing this on the historical Apple major announcements at MacWorld in Jan. Apple will not be apart of this event and will not showcase anything at CES either.
Unless Apple are planning a special event for Jan themselves, I think we will see something before Xmas.
Got to dash, the flux capacitor is charged.
OMG! Please....I can't take the torture anymore! September......please? :(
Is it possible that we'll see an October event (similar timeframe to last year's MacBook updates)? If that's the case, I think iLife and iWork updates would follow in the new year, but nothing amazing.
It makes business sense - holiday period = sales.
holiday period = sales
That's the thing though, Tablet takes away gifts o f MacBooks and touches. Apple hype can generat sales of the tablet without holiday consumerism. It's existing products that benefit from the holiday bonanza and which can onky be hurt.
january ok with me, pockets kind of empty right now...just bought a MacPro and 24" ACD
this is exactly what they want me to think to keep me off their trail.
If we assume this is going to connect to the network using LTE on the Verizon network, a release next year makes sense, since Verizon will only be starting to rollout the network mid next year.
The beard seems to get out more than Jim these days!
