$899 DisplayPort Monitor en route?

That $899 price point that keeps getting thrown about?  Yeah, it looks like it is a monitor for the new DisplayPort, erm port that the new MacBooks are going to have...AI and MR both think so at this point.

Looks like a lot of predictions are going bad all around with Apple's launch only a few hours away.  No one expected Cinema displays until Macworld.

Also, the 17 Pro and MacBook varieties are expected to be no shows.

At this point, it looks like two 13 inch and 2 15 inch Macbook Pros.  And a Cinema display that takes display port.

i can't wait til 1pm, in large part just so we can take a break from the magical thinking for 3-5 months. in the meantime, fools, allow me to kick-start the insanity for you: "i still think it's a tablet! with gps, a docking station, and induction charging!" for my part, i'd just like a macbook with an LED display. is that asking too much? it's starting to seem like it; i've already been waiting almost 2 years.

yuck no, gimme oldschool cinema displays, hardcore graphic design look, no glossy home-fröbler imac-style look.

BOO!

$899 for what size btw? Considering the industry pricing standard it should be like 26" no?

design

614

The design is not stunning at all! I expected more from Apple, I thought after the release of the new Imac they would have learned from their mistakes. The new design does not look refreshing at all!

The new design just looks

The new design just looks like a usual PC notebook.

Please let the display be

914

Please let the display be matte, fully 10 bit (no 8/10 bit dithering - dispalyport can do full 10bit, so use it) and with some kind of calibration system. An Apple-ised version of the recently released, and rather nice, HP DreamColo(u)r if you will.

My guess is that this display

714

My guess is that this display is the "Brick", or actually a dock with a display.

The new MacBooks and MacBook Pros will both have a dock connector (covered with tape in the pictures), that will allow them to be "inserted" behind this dock, just like in the rumor drawings.

Also, I also guess this dock connector will provide the missing firewire 400 port in MacBooks and an extra one in the Pro, through a simple cable, probably $19.99.

The entry level MacBook will remain at the current spec, but at a lower price point $999.

It's all guesses. We will know the truth in a few hours.

13 in macbook pro? huh?
