If you want to know what those Droid phones (which BGR says are coming on November 6th) are capable of, Google has put out a video detailing the major new features in Android 2.0 messaging APIs. They are killing us softly with the unified inbox.  Apple? Care to respond?  Please?

Google is EVIL! Even the boss of Symbian says so.

Doesnt the pre do most all of this? Droid is such a iPhone killer

 For just 1 reason...

do you recall when Palm was showing the single search? Apple reacted introducing spotlight on the iphone... now they will do the same... I believe 1.4 will include contact sync and merge, calendar API (finally), and some other sweet stuffs (like the iRadio) which will bring more and more people on the bright side of the smartphones...

Competition is always good... always...

I didn't find the UI very 'user-friendly' in an intuitive sense of way... anyone else shares my thoughts?

Its not, which is why Android probably would never have that same mass market appeal iPhone has with average consumers. To me, Android is exactly like Linux, where its great for geeks and they will love it, while the average consumers likely won't take advantage of the benefits of the platform.

Oh and lol @ the new animation for opening applications in Android 2.0, looks familiar.

Ever since I saw little glimpses of Android 2.0 I have been in love. I am currently a Verizon Wireless customer and am extremely excited for the release of the Motorola Droid, which will run on Android 2.0 from what I have read. Even as an Apple fanatic, I have a close eye on the Android and will definitely look in to purchasing the Droid when it is released.

(ps., in case you didn't see, they are using a Verizon phone in the example vid. took a second glance but nevertheless. exciting.)

If you were a G1 owner like me, you'd be mad.

Apple continues to upgrade the first generation iPhone. Even the oldest low-end device - the iPhone 2.5G with 4 GB of storage can run the latest iPhone OS. It won't be shocking if the entire iPhone range gets additional updates.

But the G1 is newer, with more capable hardware than the 1st gen iPhone, and.... and isn't going to get Android 2.0. It is "stuck" at 1.5, and won't be brought up to Android 2.0.

WTF? Is this WindowsMobile or BlackBerryOS all over again?

You know, I love my iphone. But yeah- that lack of a single unified email inbox bugs the crap out of me. I just want one inbox that shows all my combined inboxes, and one above it that only shows new unread emails- that would be nice. hit email, and those two are available above the accounts title bar. They could be optional.

And- actually- the way you hit a contact on android and see the icons for each type of communication you have available- wy can't iphone do that? That looks neat. Instead o having to hit back and forth through each contact, just hit the name, see the icons slide out on the right, and be able to click another name directly.

I like competition. competition is good! :)
