AT&T suffers setback in court case but fires back at Verizon in an ad

Well, you knew this was coming.  First news is that the Judge denied AT&T's request to remove Verizon's ads from the airwaves.  No big shocker there.  AT&T didn't even disagree with the maps that Verizon was showing.  But AT&T have vowed that they're going to keep fighting.  Good luck with that.

Secondly, they've made their own ads with (a slightly pudgey?) Luke Wilson and a bunch of X's.  It isn't quite the Misfit Toys level of cheekieness but it is certainly a start. They've also put up a website at http://www.truthabout3G.com full of fun facts.

We've got over a month until Christmas and we don't think the mud will stop slinging any time soon.

LOL a better 3G experience?

Are they joking? Maybe Verizon should sue them for that because that is blatantly false!! Even when you get 5 3G bars you get 5 dropped calls in an hour because their infrastructure is so weak!

It is a better 3g experience when verizons 3g goes at 10-19 KB/s.

Agreed.

I'm in a 3G zone for AT&T, lucky if I get coverage at all. My '3G experience' is usually 50kbps is not zero.

Meanwhile with Verizon I can get 700-1000mbps at the same spot. In fact, anywhere in NC I get awesome speeds with Verizon.

Leave one of the few metro areas with AT&T coverage and AT&T doesn't even claim any 3G coverage at all. Most of the state is EDGE.

And worse... its been this way for years and AT&T has not lifted a finger to increase their 3G coverage in the state.

Shame on AT&T!

Misleading indeed.

"My '3G experience' is usually 50kbps is not zero."...

Dam'n that slow.. I got with my phone 7.2Mbit/s in 3G HDSPA... and in the woods I only got #G with 2-3 Mbit/s.. AT&T is reallly slow :O How can you stupid americans use that shit?

That's more misleading than the Verizon ad. :)

As a former Verizon customer who lived and worked clearly in the middle of a "red zone" of the Verizon map, I can state without hesitation that although the Verizon map is visibly different than the AT&T map, it is absolutely pointless in terms of determining service availability in ANY particular location.

Potential customers that make a decision based on a carrier's service map is putting an unreasonable amount of faith in that carrier's marketing materials.

Gee, who would have guessed 9to5 would have posted this with all of the negativity they are known for.

Nice Apple information.

That is the most vague info page I've pretty much seen.  AT&T is stating no facts here.  It's like saying that my dad can beat up your dad (which he totally can, btw).  This information page of AT&T's also reads "pretty much, we're nothing without the iPhone."

I can't wait for January 2010's Apple announcement.  And then for July 2010 to arrive for launch (because of a 6-month FCC public filing).  I wonder who the new iPhone carrier will be?

100k apps.

Most popular smart phone.

Lets see... sounds like AT&T has NOTHING going for it other than the iPhone

I guess at&t is trying hard to win back the trust they lost.

Nice continuity errors with the magnetic checks not aligned in the boxes. Then squared up and aligned... Then not aligned......... Then aligned again. Nice attention to detail.

you get thumbs down for clicking the save buttom twice lol.

who is this douchebag? I seen him somewhere?

Two of their "facts" are that it has the smartphone people want (iPhone) and 100K apps (iPhone).

They better pray to the business gods that Verizon doesn't get the iPhone, because it will then decimate their "Better experience" stand.

I can't wait until there are multiple carriers with iPhones.  I do hope the 4th version of the iPhone is truly universal and will work on any network.  Can't wait until next year to find out!

I'm more disappointed that they advertise 100,000 apps and then follow up with an ad for the Solstice and Impression phones. LAME & LAME

The first casualty of any war is truth.  That goes for war between competing companies.

AT&T, you don't have 100,000 apps. Apple's app store does.

If they can't make a direct comparison to 3G coverage (because they can't), advertising like this is only going to exacerbate the issue...

At&t aré a bunch of nooobs of course you can't talk and web on verizon at the same time it's CDMA dumbasses! That's proabably why the 3G speed is shit on AT&T from all the added bandwidth.'i'm 14 and I proabablly know more about cellular technology then the dumbasses who wrote this stupid ad..

my friends warned me about it. I switched to att anyway because I wanted an iphone. Big modafoo^#@%^@&# mistake!  The freaking safari internet browser is slow as shit and it doesn't matter which part of the city (NYC). And the calls drop frequently.

I was going to switch back to Tmobile but missed the 30 days deadline. Now I am @%@$!^@ stuck with a sleek phone but disgusting servicce!!!
